Got this book in the library and loved it so much I bought it for myself and copies for friends - I thought it was THAT good. I takes a few pages to get into the "feel" of the book but then I couldn't put it down. I found it incredible that an adult author could capture so accurately the way it feels to be a child - it brought back so many memories and made me laugh out loud. The story is about a day in the life of Derek and his friend Gal and it is in turn exciting, heartwarming and funny. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

A great story of a boy's adventures during a short period of time growing up in a Lanarkshire town. Insightful and funny.
