One the the catchiest soundtracks, you will find. Add to this somesurprising top notch vocal performances from Robert Lindsey and EmmaThompson and you will find this is a soundtrack you`ll want to have. Somegreat songs, "Me And My Girl" , "Leaning On A Lamp Post" and of course"The Lambeth Walk" to name but a few.

This musical is full of amazing songs, not just one or two! I saw the touring musical last year and it rocked too but you can enjoy the music without knowing the story as my sister does. She is obsessed with my CD!

I absolutely adore this soundtrack and musical as it was the first musical I ever saw (at the Adelphi, London) back in 1989!! I did purchase the cassette of the soundtrack which is now sounding very worn indeed so I am now replacing it with the CD version!! The music is just fabulous on this soundtrack and you cannot help but feel uplifted when you listen to it and it will definitely get your feet tapping as well!! You can tell what a treat you are in for just by listening to the opening overture which features all the classic songs, "Me & My Girl", "Leaning On A Lampost" and of course the fantastic "Lambeth Walk" (which seems to go and on and on when you get to the actual track itself). The cast are also amazing on this version and both Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson do a really fantastic job of bringing Bill Snibson and Sally Smith to life!!

All in all this is one heck of a superb soundtrack and if you love your musicals then you will definitely love this CD!! (oh and if you're a tap dance teacher then it's fantastic for tap dancing too as well!!!!).

Time and again we had wanted to see this show and missed it, but eventually we coincided with a performance, and what a joy it is! As a Londoner, even though not a Cockney, I was perhaps bound to appreciate it even more. It's before my time but not a time that's gone from our consciousness and the songs are so well known. It's like Novello - you know the songs so well, but you mayn't unless like me you are a (very late come) fan of Novello, have any idea where they originated or what amazing and spectacular shows they featured in.

Me and My Girl. Music by Noel Gay. Just look at the songs we all know without perhaps knowing why: The sun has got his hat on, Love makes the world go round, You would if you could, Once you lose your heart, Me and my girl, and those two great classics Lambeth walk that we has a go at at parties, and Leaning on a lamp post, the last made so famous by George Formby too. He died long before my time but we still hear about him because of songs like this.

I could have bought the disk of the fairly recent production of this show, but when I checked out the disks on Amazon, I saw Robert Lindsay had starred in the earlier production. Oh dear, how did I miss seeing that production years ago with him starring? I adore Robert Lindsay in anything, so I had to have this CD version and it is fabulous! Highly recommended disk, highly recommended show, do try to see it. Just a simple story of class and London pre WW2. The heir to an Earldom has finally been found and he turns out to be a Cockney living in the East End of London, pretty rough around the edges. But needs must, he's the heir and he has the money, and that makes him desirable to other women. So what's he going to do about his beloved back there in the East End thinking her lover has abandoned her?

I bought the tape in Manchester when I saw the stage performance. A big mistake because I should have bought the CD. Now 20 years later I have corrected this mistake.
This is a great production which includes two songs not in the pre-war production.
The songs and music are well written and I can recommend this to anybody who likes musical shows. The cast performs well with good singing voices and I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

Having seen this show recently (and for the 5th time) it was time to replace our old cassette tape with a CD. We should have done it sooner... Excellent show, wonderful music and I challenge you not to sing along!

Very different to the Broadway recording, this original London production sounds very British, and includes the missing Duchess Maria & Sir John duet "If Only You Had Cared For Me".
