This is just the most beautiful book. The flow of the text make it lovely to read whilst the illustrations are eye catching for young children and babies with their simplistic colours and style. My daughter is only 10 weeks but I love reading this to her so much and we are investing in the others too. The Hardback is also the best format and would make an absolutely perfect gift for any young child or new (grand)parent.

We were given this as a gift at the birth of our daughter, it is a lovely and simple story about a baby penguin and its parent, with a couple of words on each page. The illustrations are simply beautiful and the limited mostly monochrome colour scheme makes them perfect for catching the eye of a young baby. Later on I'm sure that the story will be good for doing actions and learning words too. The only problem is that every time I read it to my daughter I cry at the end as the story is so sweet.

I heard Emma Dodd read this (she said it was written for her children) and was so touched that I immediately bought it for my own baby. The illustrations are gorgeous are really evoke the feeling of being small in a big, wide world, and the ending is beautiful. It is much-loved by all members of the family. I do wish I'd got the non-board book version though, as I think the illustrations are slightly better presented.

My daughter was given a series of Emma Dodd's touching books, and we've gone on to share them with so many friends. This little penguin chick is so cute, and once again, Emma's illustrations are so beautifully presented. A winner!

Very sweet story. Beautifully produced book. Don't know if there is a board version, but it would be a good idea for toddlers.
