I have the Nikon d7000, I found this battery grip to be a great added extra, It does exactly what it says on the box, the build quality is very good and all functions work well with the camera, and feels good in the hand, I would say it great value for the price.
Quality product, good price and arrived on time. If you have the d7000, I would say its worth having as an extra.

I've spent a long time examining the Mcoplus version of Nikon's MB-D15, and to be perfectly honest, I really can't find a single thing of consequence to raise issue with, unless of course, you're someone who considers a fancy box, packaging and an instruction manual in 14 languages to be critical requirements.

This grip is designed for a mid-size, comparatively light, pro-sumer camera. Although excellent in almost every way, the D7100 is not a pro-grade unit camera and will not (generally) be subjected to the daily abuse of say a D800. Nor will it (often) find itself strapped to a tripod with a massively heavy pro-grade lens attached, or where it does, the lens will probably have a tripod mount itself.

In short then, there has to be a real question as to how and why Nikon can justify producing the original MB-D15 at 7-ish times the price. Yes it may have an all-magnesium construction, but given what the camera is NOT likely to have to put up with, does it really need it?

The Mcoplus unit is sturdy and well made, with a metal bar all along the base which reinforces the tripod mount. The gears for the attachment screw and the buttons are the one area where Nikon's 'Rolls Royce' quality has not quite been matched, but they seem perfectly decent and as mentioned, 1/7th the price!

If the worse happens and it breaks or develops a fault, you could just buy another (and another) and still be in-pocket.

Frankly I'd much sooner put the £200-ish saved towards the next bit of decent glass, than spend it on the Nikon original unit where the differences would be irrelevant for almost all users.

Buy with confidence.

Although I try to buy Nikon gear to fit my Nikon cameras, on this occasion I thought I would try this vertical grip from MCOPLUS just because I couldn't believe the price. It arrived by post only a few days after placing my order with Amazon and even as I began to unpack it from the glossy box I could see it was extremely well made and looked just like an accessory from Nikon. The finish is superb and all the pieces you need convert to AA battery use are there with battery contact covers and full illustrated instructions. I quickly fitted the unit to my D7100 and after adjusting the camera menu I was up and running. It worked perfectly first time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any owner of a D7100 DSLR. Thanks MCOPLUS you have done a good job and saved me some money into the bargain.

Got me confused - they all look exactly the same. Had I really looked, I'd have gotten the cheapest rather than this for £36.

Whatever, this Mcoplus version seems to work okay. It comes with an instruction booklet (looks like Nikon's) and two trays: one for EN-EL15 battery and the other for six AA NiMH batteries. It works just like the Nikon one and indeed the D7100 thinks it is. I'd not recommend it for pro use but as an amateur, it'll likely do fine over time. Switches and buttons are not to Nikon standard but feel okay and, really, only time will tell.

Sadly, it pongs. Not sure how to describe it but a poo-sweet seems about right. I cleaned it with an antibacterial perfumed cloth but the smell remains. It seems to be the rubber used or the glue. Whatever it is, it's right up your nose. I might return it for this reason.

Pity the pong since it's very much cheaper than Nikon's grip. Maybe a replacement will not have the pong...

EDIT: I kept it rather than return it since all that hastle is too much some times. So, having used it for a month, I can add that it still works fine and that the initial pongy smell has gone. I've now given it four stars.

Having just recently upgraded to a Nikon D7100, and having had a Nikon D90 with a Meike battery grip previously, I was on the lookout for a battery grip for the new camera. This Mcoplus version was slightly cheaper than the other alternatives on Amazon at the time yet looked to be of a similar spec so decided to take a chance and give it a try. The product feels to be of an equivalent quality to the Meike version I had previously, and fits to my D7100 perfectly. It has a robust feel about it, and for the price I can't really find fault with it. Over time the white text on the buttons of my Meike version started to rub off through repeated use so it will be interesting to see if this suffers in a similar way, but for the price can't really grumble too much!
