I've just had a new knee and have been told that I can expect some pain, swelling and inflammation a year from now. It is recommended from the outset that patients use ice (packs like these, frozen peas or whatever) regularly - at my stage up to four times a day. So I trawled Amazon for appropriate aids and chose this one, along with the appropriate McDavid 200T, medium Ice Bag Wrap (the Wrap comes with one bag included [in total £15.99] and I bought a spare bag for an additional £13.60). The Bag is doing fine and certainly helps. However, I certainly can't walk about while wearing the Wrap (except to keep my ankles cool!). Even so, I'd be quite happy to recommend the system, although the total price for Wrap and two Bags - the best part of thirty quid - seems steep (very high profit margins, I imagine) especially with an additional shipping charge of £7.74. After all, the system does ease the pain, swelling and inflammation. After a fortnight, the surface of the Wrap is already very obviously roughened by the velcro usage, so I shall be interested to see how long it lasts. In addition, the rim of the hole in the wrap, designed to fit in a groove in the cap of the ice bag, only does that if the velcro fastening (useful in that it works anywhere on the wrap) is fairly loose. This means that the wrap is even LESS likely to remain in place on a knee if the wearer is in anything other than a horizontal position.
