When buying I wasn't sure which Lumbar Roll to go for - firm or original - so I got them both and want to help you know which to choose because I couldn't find much guidance on this issue myself. After using them for two weeks, I don't actually have a preference - they are both good but for different purposes.
Original - I use on my office chair / dining chair and in the car. Basically chairs with a hard back. It does squish quite easily after a short period but still does the job and you can always turn it around.
Firm - I use on my sofa and other chairs with very soft backs (car seat too) as it gives me better support. You can use them for hard back chairs but probably better for tall / heavyish people otherwise it will push you out too far. I'm 6 foot male.
There is also a super roll and D shape which I don't have but I understand from other reviews that these are bigger.
If you're unsure still - go for the original because it's more versatile. And buy McKenzie's 'Treat your own back' book. Both have sorted out my back problem in just a couple of weeks after suffering for a couple of months with lower back problems. As a result I have not needed to see a professional.

Having used a McKenzie in my car for a few years, I was disapointed when I lost it.
I searched for alternatives that were cheaper, but kept coming back to this manufacturer as I did not have any problems with the old one. It was still in shape and spongy.
This new one is VERY firm. I weigh 86kg's and is fine for me when using it in the car. If you were lighter you would probably be pushed forward, so i would suggest a medium firmness.
Overall very good, it straightens you up and you have to adjust your rear view mirror as your a couple of inches taller !!
Also try using it just below your shoulder blades and feel the benefit.

I already own the d shape lumber roll but its not as firm as this one and its smaller but does the job very well.
I wanted another one so i could have one in the home and one in the car, so i opted for the firmer one.
What can i say, its brilliant and supports my back very well as i have had back trouble in the past, i recommend it to anyone who has low back pain.

Not for me
The product is great, however I realized it does not fit my back pain needs. The density is too high. The product is impeccable however and I recommend it where necessary.

Nice little lumbar support. It is firm, but great to my liking. I have a herniated disc down in that area and it helps me do my job which involves sitting 10h a day. Read more

Pricey but effective
Pricey for what it is ie. a roll of foam. However, since I have been using it my back has hurt far less than it did before so I suppose that it was worth the money.
