A good introduction 17 Jan 2012

If This was six years ago and you said McFly, I would have said All about you, and urh. Now putting aside the boyband tag a tag I do find hard to understand, were the Beatles a boyband, or The Jam Stones, no I don't think they were. McFly came along at a time when teenagers wanted a little more creditability from there bands. At the time we were board with all the rubbish boy singing groups jumping on the bandwagon of Take That. However McFly were not manufactured, Tom and Danny met had a mutual interest in writing songs and then recruited Bass Play Douggie and Drummer Harry. This was realised by Island records after the band left for their own label, and was not the groups idea. I bought this after loving Above the noise and I was not disappointed, the DVD is packed with a full concert, all the singles up to 2007 a behind the scenes tour and two live performances from Manchester, and all in DTS!.However I would say the concert for Radioactive is better in every way sound quality, song selection and even though this is DTS, something is missing from the concert sound. I was surprised however how many songs I had missed like my Heart never lies and Transylvania two of my favourites, and a great cover of the Who's Pinball wizard.Don't dismiss this group thinking they are just for teenage girls they are not much different to all bands that start out, but McFly deserve to be around for a long time, and if the next album is of the standard of this they will. PS Going to the up close a personal concert and looking forward to it a lot

By Alex A.C.M VINE™ VOICE

If there's one thing that's made McFly last as long as they have done for the past 5 years, it's the fact that they pull out pretty much all the stops when it comes to playing live and touring, which is illustrated perfectly on this DVD which accompanied the top 5 album of the same name.

Filmed last September at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, whilst their "Greatest Hits" show may lack some of the pyromaniac pizazz that their arena tours usually have - i.e. big video screens and a little podium for Harry's drums to levitate about on - this is an enjoyable, intimate and engaging set that shows off not only their performing prowess but also the funny, often heartwarming crowd interaction - particularly on performances of tracks like "Obviously", "Friday Night", "Transylvania" and "All About You".

Also included on the DVD is a short montage of clips from their hit MTV documentary series "Up Close and Personal", showing amusing moments such as Tom disecting individual members' taste in clothing, Danny "poking his head out" to an extremely overexcited audience, Harry showing us their "view" from their dressing room, and the band doing a vocal warm up via a rendition of their long lost support act V's "Blood, Sweat and Tears", and there's also rather handily all of their videos from "5 Colours In Her Hair" to "The Heart Never Lies" included here too.

Even if you're not a hardcore fan, but perhaps just like a few of their songs, for the price and what you get on here it's definitely worth investigation, and perfect viewing for a night in.
