1.0 out of 5 stars A joke of a mower, 21 April 2011
This review is from: McCulloch Petrol 4 Wheel Rotary Mower,Push,Briggs And Stratton Engine (DIY & Tools)
Don't be tempted by the low price. Pay a bit more and get yourself a decent machine. Had to give it 1-star as none was not an option with posting this review.
Cons:
1- Built is cheap and flimsy.
2- Grass box keeps falling off as it is too close to the ground.
3- Grass box opening too wide for even wide bin bags.
4- Grass box handle breaks easily due to poor construction.
5- Wheels fall off as they are held in by screws.
6- Folding handle screws worked loose, due to vibration, and fell off.
7- Throttle/deadman handle fell off as it was retained by a flimsy split-pin.
8- No choke control.
9- No throttle control; on or off only.
10- Throttle cable stretched with use, causing the throttle to close even when the handle if fully squeezed. The length of the throttle cable could not be adjusted as it terminates with a soldered-on kinked pin which is inserted into a hole on the handle. Had to resort to a lot of trickery to fix. Not a normal DIY job.
11- Engine does not run smooth (irregular rev).
12- To adjust height, each wheel has to be unscrewed and screwed back on.
Pros:
Can't think of any.

Easy to assemble, easy to start, easy to adjust, very sturdy and cuts very well. A good machine, well worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worthless toy: avoid at all costs, 11 Oct 2010
This review is from: McCulloch Petrol 4 Wheel Rotary Mower,Push,Briggs And Stratton Engine (DIY & Tools)
Alarm bells rang as soon as I opened the box....the grass collection box doubles as packaging [or rather, the packaging fails to double as grass collecting box.] The build is cheap; tubular handle is affixed to the body with contact pressure exerted by two 1.5cm screws! But,as another reviewer said, assembly is easy.
Oil in; fuel in; engine primed as per instructions. Within two minutes, the engine cuts out because barely damp grass has clogged the blades, as the design fails to push grass from the blades and into the box. Kickback on restarting is horrendous -about the only power this toy has. Ten minutes into the first cut and the box has fallen off 8 times as it is so low slung. Then the front right wheel falls off. I am not attempting to mow an alp here, but I am guessing that this mower is only useful if you have a bowling green flat lawn -which ideally has already been cut beforehand by a proper mower. OK, so its cheap. AND? One should still expect the item to do the job as Amazon advertise. Scissors and a thimble would be more useful. This is kit to put anyone off online buying. [It earned one star here because Amazon don't extend into minus numbers]
