In the past year I have had 2 bad experiences with garden vacuums. The first, a Black & Decker 3000 model was so powerful the waste bag kept blowing off. If the bag didn't come loose - it leaked so that the operative became covered in dust. B&D replaced the fitting twice, but it was still no good. After continually complaining to them - they would not refund my money - I eventually managed to pursuade them to exchange it for a hedge cutter (which actually works fine).
So, once bitten, I bought a really cheap vacuum - can't even remember the make or model. It burnt out on first use, so that went back.
After much searching on the internet, I decided to go for the McCulloch, which had consistently good reviews. Like some others, I found it difficult to assemble at first, but thanks to the very comprehensive handbook soon had it working. It started first time and although so far, I've only used it briefly, I have to say it does an excellent job. I'm only intending to use it as a vacuum, so haven't even attempted to assemble the blower bits.
The great feature (suppose this must be true of all petrol-engined blower/vacs?) is that it's very easy to control the suction, simply by increasing the revs on the engine. Previous electric vacs were too powerful and sucked up gravel and like I said earlier, I found that the dust-bag leaked.

Instuctions clear and concise. Assembly very easy. Started after a couple of goes, and ran well. Had a large area to clear in the rear garden using the blower function. Works really well, light enough for one hand to hold, plenty of control over the speed of the blow. Followed up using the vacume facility on the front garden. Worked so well I had to empty the collection bag about three times. Perfect for the home user, well satisfied.

Very excited to receive this product, but when received and prepared to use, item would not start. Followed all manufactures instructions to no avail. A whole weekend wasted on trying to sort this product. Eventually gave up after spending money on petrol, 2 stroke oil, spark plug replacements and tools. Very disappointed.

Mc Culloch MCGBV325
Think it is a great item for the purpose bought and saves time however the shredder is a little lame. It picks up both wet and dry leaves. But on whole great product.

couldn't blow its way out of a wet paper bag
the leaves were just a little bit damp and I would have been better off using the rake! I hope the vacuum is more useful.
