I deliberated long and hard as to which blower / vac I should buy...cut a long story short, I went for this one as I also have a petrol strimmer by McCulloch which is very good indeed.
I have to say, it's excellent...I took it out of the box and within 10 minutes had it assembled and ready to add the fuel. The quality of build is very good. I expected it to struggle to start the first time but within a couple of pulls it started and ran very smoothly.
As a blower it couldn't be better, easily moving leaves and general debris with ease (with a lot of it ending up in next door) before I realised how powerful it was!
As a Vac it was just as effective with the suction again being so powerful it sucked itself to the floor!
Generally though, the starting is a breeze, it's light and easy to handle, pretty quite for a 2 stroke, the `anti vibration' works and the `cruise control' is a great addition which makes extended operation easy. Definitely a very good buy!!

The Autumn garden war is afoot and I have a new weapon in the form of this two-stroke Mcculoch monster.

Set up is really very simple, with a selection of tubes supplied dedicated to either the blow or suck function (oops sounds like an estate agents take on a dogging session....)which are easily attached. I admit to being a bit worried about the fuel issue of mixing 2-stroke oil with petrol, but after buying the appropriate 2-stroke mixing bottle and the necessary oil, it really was a simple process and nothing to get vexed about.

After filling the tank and following the instructions on the machine, it started first time and every time subsequently. It is a bit loud, but no more than your average petrol mower and you are advised to wear ear defenders so no surprises there. The blow function really is superb and will literally blow all your debris into the neighbours garden if you're not careful! Hoovering is so good that I have offered to do indoors, but the wife objects to the smell of 2-stroke in the air and prefers her glade air-fresheners for some bizarre reason....

One thing to note is that the machine is very well built and as a consequence is quite heavy, so two-handed use and a bit of muscle is mandatory. There are two handles, but the design is such that when hoovering you have to use your left hand to control the throttle, which is fine for me, but may be a niggle for those strange right-handed folk out there. Alternatively you can just use the throttle lock and be done with the fine control.

The bag has a good capacity and with the high mulching ratio doesn't need emptying every five seconds like some cheaper brands out there and again seems to be well made of canvas type material with a sturdy zip for opening and closure.

    Fantastic value for money!
Well packaged and arrived very quickly.
Assembling the machine was very easy.
Starting the blower for the first time is a very simple operation.
Just fill the tank with petrol and 2 stroke oil (premix the petrol and 2 stroke oil)pump the round button petrol button. Move the switch to start and pull the cord!
Total time from unpacking to use is 15 minutes, having never used or assembled a blower before.
Usage of the blower is also very good it has a good powerful blow.
Sweeping the driveway with a broom took me one hour of hard work. NOW with the blower it took 25 minutes and it is not hard work!!!!!!!!!

The only down side to it,is the petrol tank is quite small so every time I use the machine I need to fill it up.
Having said that I used it for 25 minutes on one tank of fuel not quite all used up.

Great product overall, looks well built and is well worth the £109 price tag. It is alot better at blowing leaves than it is picking them up though. It is suitable for large gardens and is very easy to put together and start.
Don't buy it if you want it purely for sucking leaves up though, you may be disappointed.

The machine is easy to assemble (a little liquid soap helps)

Very easy to start and comfortable to use

Very effective when blowing and the idle speed blow very useful

    In Vac mode equally good

Initially had a false start with this, as it arrived with a broken vent cover which exposed the fan blades. To save the vendor shipping another unit, I suggested simply replacing the cover, unfortunately the vendor was let down by the manufacturer, and after several weeks the broken unit had to be returned in its entirety and replaced. Not a bad reflection on the vendor though, more on the loose packaging of the product from the manufacturer.

In terms of performance, I have only used it as a vacuum rather than blower, and it can certainly lift the wettest of leaf piles. The operation of it is rather tricky as a vacuum as it doesn't sit flat on the ground to make it stable to pull the starter motor. You then have to use the shoulder strap and essentially rest the engine on your groin with the collection bad hanging to the right. It isn't very comfortable to use, especially since it is heavy to start of with, and a full bag makes it eaven heavier.

It is also a real pain to empty the bag, as it doesn't detach quickly from the unit. There is a full length zip, but you end up having to hold the entire bag, engine, and nozzle over the bin/compost heap while you try to drag the leaves out of the bag. A quick relase clip the bag would be a sensible design feature to add.

I would give 5 stars in terms of performance as a vacuum, but it loses stars as it is so cumbersome to work with. If you only want to use it as a blower then it is probably a very good choice.
