I bought this book as a gift for my elderly father who worked on the building sites in Britain. He has stated that it is the most accurate account he has read and matches his personal experiences exactly. He stated it was as if he had been asked to contribute to the book himself ! He thouroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it highly.

I purchased this for my dad who was one of McAlpine's Men. He came to England in 1947 and actually knew some of the men mentioned in the book. It was an interesting read for him and brought back happy times.

This was bought as a gift for a retired labourer who came over from Ireland in the 1950's. He found it very enjoyable and it took him back to those days and how things were in the early days . He does not normally read books but found it an easy read and not too long.
