4.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading if your a Maze Runner Fan 22 Aug 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
OK, So the Maze Runner was a really great book. Then came The Scorch Trials which was a Really Really great book. Then we had The Death Cure which was quite a good book. So what do we have here? Well the links to the Maze runner are few and far between. If you are expecting answers to your unanswered questions then you will not find them here. Dashner takes us back 13 years before the events of the Maze Runner with a whole new cast of people. This book describes survival during and just after the Flare, the onset of the Virus and the set up of the organisations that presumably became WICKED.
I have to say that although this is a good book, it did not enthrall me as much as the Maze Runner Trilogy. I felt that the protagonists stumbled from one fight scene to the next, and in quite a few cases escaped for no logical reason (ie the crowd simply stop fighting because a girl tells them to stop.)
In another scene, our survivors are weaponless and just happen to stumble on some serious firepower when they need it.
Be warned, there is quite a lot of graphical description of blood and gore, but hey, we are dealing with the end of the world as we know it.

So in conclusion, Yes I enjoyed this book. Will I continue reading Mr. Dashners stories? Most definitely. Was this book as good as the Maze Runner Trilogy? Not in my humble opinion, but read it for yourself and see what you think.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the others 8 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was surprised to see that there was another book to add to this series.since i quite enjoyed the trilody i thought that it wouldn't be right not to read this one; and yeah this was a good book, but i prefered the second book: scorch trials. this book however was fine.

Set before the events of the Maze Runner, it shows how a group of people survive the effects of the sun flares hitting the planet and takes them through a perilous journey to find out answers about the people in charge.
I like the character Mark, put across in a very human way, shows his emotions, but doesn't let it stop him from doing what needs to be done. James Dashner has done well with this book, but it doesn't answer all the questions that arise from the trilodgy. you definately need to read the first three books aswell as this one to get the full gist of the story but the order shouldn't matter. if you only read the first three then it wouldn't matter to much about this one, but its an added bonus.

i would reccomend this yes.

3.0 out of 5 stars James Dashners MAZE RUNNER: Kill Order 3 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I thought the Maze Runner Trilogy was great & was disappointed that there wasnt a book 4, so when l saw that Kill Order was being released l was really pleased. Unfortunately what l have just finished reading has been very disappointing, where l would read each of the other 3 books in a day, l put Kill Order to one side after only reading the 1st half & didnt go back to it for a couple of weeks. just couldnt get into it, felt like James Dashner couldnt either. To me it felt it was just written for the sake of it, not to enhance the story. I am afraid to say l was bored.
