Review

Mazda Sport Magazine, April 2007, US
The 800,000th MX-5 Miata just rolled off the assembly line a few weeks ago, so it's appropriate that there's a new edition out of the book that chronicles the history of the model. Brian Long's name on a car book is an absolute guarantee of quality, and his latest epic is no exception. Mazda MX-5 Miata - The Book of the World's Favourite Sportscar contains everything that a Miata enthusiast could want to know to impress friends and satisfy curiosity. To tell the truth, it contains enough detail to render an obsessive-compulsive Miata freak completely catatonic with information overload.
Long's books are characterized by access to corporate archives and in-depth interviews with the designers, engineers, and executives who actually dreamed, designed, and built the cars. Long consistently gets the kind of deep background information that most auto writers only dream about. If you want to get the real Miata story from the people who were

Product Description

Now in its second decade of production, Mazda's superb convertible roadster has become by far the world's best-selling sports car. Here, in definitive detail, is the full story of the MX-5 (known as the Miata in the USA and Eunos Roadster in Japan) from inception in the early 1980s to the very latest third generation models. Researched in Japan, this book, now in its third edition, includes interviews with key people in the MX-5 story. The coverage includes development, launch details, the model's evolution in all the major markets, motorsport, specials, and much, much more. The book also comes with a Foreword by Takao Kijima.

Christmas Present 5 Feb 2009
By blondie
Format:Hardcover
Bought this book for my husband as a chritmas present as he had recently purchased a MX5.He said he found it very interesting his only negative comment was it did not have so much detail on the current models. However overall it was rated as one of his better presents!

But may be a bit factual in it's presentation, with frequent Japanese and USA references, prices and models, but I suppose that's going to happen with such a world-wide success. There's not a huge amount about the Mark 3 (1 chapter), which may be the reason for many buying this book, but the history of the car is well documented with many illustrations, and there is plenty in this book to interest any MX-5 enthusiast.

Not very good... 15 Oct 2007
Format:Paperback
It might be packed with information, but the layout of the book makes it pretty much unreadable in my eyes. Too much text on the pages, poor sans serif type face, too many small illustrations (less, with better quality would have been prefered). Over all, I'd recommend "You and your Mazda MX-5" and I'll stay away from books published by Veloce if this is their standard.
