Product Description

Product Description

During the winter season leaving the house to go and de-ice your car can be considered an annoying, inconvenient task. Ice scrapers can take a long time to clear the ice adequately and buying multiple cans of de-icer can prove to be a costly alternative. This is why Maypole have introduced their anti-frost windscreen cover.

The deluxe anti-frost cover offers a secure fixing and is easy to fit to your vehicle. The 100% nylon construction offers protection against both ice and snow. Also includes a handy storage bag for when it is not in use.

Maypole was established over 40 years ago beginning with the manufacturing of trailer lighting boards and since then has grown into one of the premier companies in Europe offering ranges of products for the Towing, Trailer, Automotive Aftermarket, Leisure, Agriculture and Marine markets. The company is proud that it is still an independent and family owned business, with total focus on Customers, Quality and Service.

I bought one of these covers in 2010 and was really pleased with it, but sadly the second one I bought in Jan 2011 for my husband's car is much poorer quality.

Size - generous - fits my fairly large windscreen better than others I've tried (Kia Ceed - has quite a deep screen)

Fabric - the actual fabric is great for drying out quickly, BUT unlike the one I bought earlier it won't lie flat on the screen - the stitching round the binding at the edges is sort of puckered up and the fabric is stiffer. The great thing about the old one was that it made contact all over the screen so no moisture could get in and form ice. Because it wouldn't spread out flat, it was also really tricky to put the cover on when it was a bit breezy.

I hope the manufacturers will go back to using the better quality material and stitching it better, but based on the current standard I wouldn't recommend this.

This frost guard has everything. It covers most of the windscreen on my Golf Plus. It has 'wings' to trap in the doors, keeping it in place. It's light and packs away into a little zipped bag (supplied). It wipes clean AND it's really good value for money. Spot on.

A very simple, cheap and effective way to prevent frost on a car windscreen. Saves the need to scape frost and ice from the windscreen. Very easy to fit and remove in seconds.

I bought this as a Christmas pressie for my Nan and she keeps saying how great it is. You can't get a better endorsement than that! Fantastic - thanks!

It works, however, it is shallow for my small Corsa SXI with a deeper screen. Better give its dimensions in the product information. Besides, if I design it, I would add heavier hangers to both ends in order to keep the cover in place when it winds.

+ Tethering by using the doors is the best way especially in windy weather.
- It could stretch more over the open bonnet vents to keep snow out

Best solution of all though: the cabin heater for cars.
You need to install a dedicated cabin socket in the passenger footwell and a mini-socket on the front grill for the electricity-in.
Put the external cable on an outdoor timer and when it clicks on the cabin heater starts.
All windows free of ice soon after!
Check the web for a good cabin heater brand such as DEFA.
