Product Description

Product Description

Do you own large inflatables? Tired of spending energy using regular old foot pumps? Need a non-electric speedy pump for your tyre, mattress, or beach toys? Then the single cylinder foot pump from Maypole is the perfect compact solution for you and your travel needs.

With the fast release barrelled pump you will be able to reach your desired pressure with little effort and energy spent. The pump is versatile and can be used with any inflatable as it comes with various adapters ready to be used. This quality air inflation solution comes to you with a non-slip foot plate so is suitable to use rain or dry, and the non-slip feet prevent it from slipping or sliding beneath you. If you have limited space then the lock down feature will prove invaluable for storing away in any small space.

Maypole was established over 40 years ago beginning with the manufacturing of trailer lighting boards and since then has grown into one of the premier companies in Europe offering ranges of products for the Towing, Trailer, Automotive Aftermarket, Leisure, Agriculture and Marine markets. The company is proud that it is still an independent and family owned business, with total focus on Customers, Quality and Service.

You get what you pay for.
I paid rock bottom for a pump that when used for the first ever time decided to bend and buckle!
Wasnt worth the hassle of returning so kept for emergencies.

Chose this particular pump on account of price and reasonable number of "balanced" reviews, suggesting it was cheap & cheerful but OK for light use.

    Good points:
    (a) Price - at around £6 somewhat less than similar offerings in shops and petrol stations near where I live
    (b) Size/weight - doesn't take up much space
    (c) Box is reasonably sturdy and can store pump + the assorted adaptors for airbeds, footballs etc.

    Not so good points:
    (a) Frame is made of quite thin steel and a little flimsy; need to ensure foot is central on pedal while pumping otherwise the thing rocks around a lot and could and easily topple over
    (b) Hose is a little short; only just reaches if the car happened to stop with the valve right at the top of the wheel
    (c) Valve connector is pretty tight; quite difficult to get off (but will probably "wear in")
    (d) Where the piston rod comes out of the base of the cylinder it is guided only by a stamped "flange" in the end cap (no bush or sleeve); the metal is pretty thin there so may wear out quite quickly...

    Bad point
    (a) The pressure gauge - on my pump it's rubbish; attach the pump to the tyre and it reads "about right" but start pumping and it shoots up by about 10p.s.i. above the tyre pressure and stays there (seems to "stick" at the highest pressure reached during that pumping "stroke"). It does slowly "come down" again towards the actual tyre pressure, but it's so erratic.
I soon got brassed off and removed that gauge and replaced it with the 5 year old one taken from my old (broken) pump...

So, I would agree with other reviews that it's "OK" - and at the price paid good value for money. But IMO check the behaviour of the pressure gauge (or disregard it and use a separate, "known good" one)

I know this was cheap but I didn't think that it would buckle on first use. I got one for similar price from Halfords (no dial) which works adequately.

Lasted just under 1 month of fairly regular use on my scooter, now the locking mechanism that attaches to the valve doesn't work.

Probably would be ok for occasional light use i.e. bicycles.

Handy pump to have, been using it for a couple of days, it's a lot better than the old one I had which was heavier than a building brick, this one is light as a feather compared to my old one, also pumps more air so the job takes less effort very pleased so far a good buy, how long it will last that remains to be seen, I nearly forgot it comes with some adaptors which will come in handy, but it works well,
    I am happy with it.

The metal foot pad warped as soon as I tried using this for the first time so sent the pump back for a refund

    Complete and utter rubbish product.

Bought to replace a lost foot pump that had been working fine for 20 years. First use was required within 2 weeks of purchase (stuck on side of A13 with a slow flat thanks to the pot holes !!) the damn thing broke.
