I've been after a battery grip for my Canon 550d for sometime, and as I'm trying to save a few pennies these days, I've started to look at third party accessories.

I've seen other grips that have been marginally cheaper than this one, but they didn't include an extra 2 third party LP-8 batteries. This in itself can sway one into looking into buying something like this as opposed to lashing out between £160-£190 on canon's own grip and two new batteries at £40 a pop. Not that I wouldn't like canon's own brand mind.

This grip is a very close match for the canon grip as I've had the opportunity to use one. they are quite close in terms of weight and dimensions...The lay out of the buttons and the multi function dial to control apeture, shutter speed, ISO etc... are almost in exactly the same place, and for the msot part are quite responsive. Now to my one niggle...The said dial...If you own a mid to high end DSLR you will know that the dials are responsive and quite positive when they slot into place. There is a defintie tactile and satisfying click when you use it...The one on here whilst it does the job is a bit on the mushy side, no where near as positive a feel when dialing in something. But it's a minor niggle. There is a convenient little switch on the grip at the back to turn on and off the function of the the shutter release, dial and AV, autofocus selection <which also act as a zoom in and out when reviewing pictures> when you don't need them. The locking mechanism for attaching the grip to the camera is a solid bit of kit, as is the rotating locking latch for the tray...Build quality is good and they even had a bash at imitating the rubbergrip material so it actuall is a very comfortable grip to use.

Excellent battery grip, and coming with two battery's was a bonus, used the grip and the battery's on a recent cruise, shot 1280 raw images before the battery's wanted recharging, saves a lot of messing around charging single battery's.

I have had this grip for under a year. I am a professional photographer. It functioned very well until the most important day this year for me. I had a wedding to cover. I had 2 sets of fully charged batteries. This dreadful product failed just as I was going to start taking photographs of the wedding. I changed the batteries and recharged them (they were fully charged). It still didn't work. I am absolutely disgusted. It has cost me a lot of money, as well as my reputation. I regret that I can no longer recommend it. I can confirm it was definitely not a problem with the camera. I would also say a big "thank you" to the seller, who was prompt, courteous and efficient. I have a refund and have bought a similar product, but by a different manufacturer.

I was looking for a battery grip for my 650d and debated between this model and the Canon official one. After reading the reviews on here I opted for this model and was pleasantly surprised. It feels like good quality materials and sturdy and the included dual batteries really sweetened the deal. Feels good, all works fine and gives the camera a nice feel in your grip. Easy to fit and get running. Only downside I can really mention is that the buttons feel slightly lower in quality and actuation feel than Canons but after a few uses this doesn't bother me any more when I consider it would have cost at least another fifty quid for the genuine thing.

Works as well as the more expensive option. Well worth the money. I read a review which said that the on/off switch wasn't as positive as the Canon version and that is quite correct - it doesn't have that solid clunk, but I can live with that and you get two batteries with it.

Can't believe how much cheaper than Canon's own brand these are. Works perfectly, and you get two spare batteries. You really can't go wrong.
