Product Description
Petal lens hood for all 58mm lens threads. When used it does not allow for a lens cap to be fitted, lens hood will need to be removed to fit lens cap. This lens hood screws into the front of your lens or filter as a very good alternative to an expensive original hood. It also has a clamp collar nut that only needs a slight pressure to tighten onto your lens so it it not easily lost.. ( do not over tighten or you risk threading). Some edge shadowing may occur depending on your lens. Some Wide angle lenses may show excessive shadows and this hood is not recommended. Internal focus lenses only recommended also otherwise the petal hood would spin as focus occurs. Petal lens hood for all 58mm lens threads.

This is a great value, well built, and tough product. It fits my Canon 18-55mm lens (with a UV filter) with no problem. I can't screw my original lens cap onto it when it's fitted but I'm not sure if you're meant to. Super!

It fits the Canon EF-S 18-55 mm IS Lens, and I didn't notice any shadowing even at 18mm. With the UV filter on though, the hood moves a few mm forward from the lens, and the round bit inside the hood gets in the way, causing the corners of the picture to get dark. I don't think this is because of the petals, because they would appear on the sides.
Personally I regret buying this hood and would not recommend it to anyone to use with the EF-S 18-55 mm IS Lens, for the reasons explained in the product description which somehow I seem to have missed reading. The front side of this lens rotates while focusing and so does the hood. Other reviewer said he/she uses the locking ring to rotate the hood; so do I for now, unfortunately, but that ring is to be used for tightening it onto the lens/filter, not to keep the hood straight when focusing.
I will have to buy a different one soon.

As for other reviews on other makes of hoods this Maxim hood screws very easily onto my UV filter & direct onto my CANON lenses, very happy. Other reviews on other makes of hoods stating screw threads do not match up & hard to put on & take off leaving damage to the thread. This is not the case with the one Ive received. Good for the price as CANON is twice the price.

Bab value hood

Lens hood
Basically does what it says.......... it's robust and the locking ring allows for rotation of the hood to suit any camera orientation. A good buy.
