In case you are unaware, this band are named after the year "Let There Be Rock" was released so they have set their stall out as AC/DC clones and very good at it they are. However, having bought their first two albums/CD's I thought that this would be the release that would move them forward into the Airbourne/Bonafide league. Afraid not-at least yet. All of the songs are far too pedestrian and there is no "High Decibels" quality CD opener to set the tone. The lyrics are far too banal and mainstream and, whilst that is considered a mainstay for some rock fans, do become a bit numbing after a while. None of the songs jump out at you as ones that you would play on repeat as there are on the first two CD's.

I was really looking forward to this CD which may explain why my review reads a bit deflated but having seen clips of them on youtube their forte is obviously on the stage and not on CD (similar to AC/DC again). Never mind-there is still hope for the next album and tour, if they ever visit the UK.

GOOD RETRO HARD ROCK 31 Mar. 2014
By Edward J. mccarthy Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
i read about this cd in classic rock magazine and i had to check it out as im a product of 60s, 70s and 80s music in general, this is a really good effort by this great band from spain called 77, i have yet to hear the first 2 albums but i will review them when i do listen to them within the next few days, anyway i usually just stick with the reissues of the old stuff and i dont bother much with this retro old sound new stuff but in this bands case i decided to take the plunge and im glad i did, now first off i read all these other reviews that compare 77 to ac/dc , on this cd i can hear the comparison but they ARE NOT AC/DC CLONES ( like ab/cd from sweden where) this band is certainly original but they put a high emphasis on sounding really loud and yes the power chord is there to blow your ears out, they sound a bit like ac/dc but not 100% just like the vocalist sounds a little like bon but not to much like him, i think what 77 are doing with this record is just trying to give you a 100% old school hard rock record PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont really hear them ripping anyone off, THIS BAND IS A GREAT HARD ROCK BAND that came out of spain around 2009 or so and they wear the jeans, the plain t shirts and nothing fancy at all basically THEY PLAY LOUD POWERFUL ROCK N ROLL and good god do we need that in todays day and age with all the garbage out there in 2014, if this was in analog it would sound better you can tell this is a modern recording and not something recorded 30 or 40 years ago but still if you liked bands like KROKUS, SAXON, ACCEPT, AC/DC, ROSE TATTOO,, SLADE, NAZARETH BUDGIE OR EVEN JOHNNY THUNDERS AND THE HEARTBREAKERS then i really reccomend you buy this cd to support these guys as the bands i just listed are just some of the bands 77 are trying to sound like, as i said i dont usually embrace this new stuff that is just re living the stuff i grew up on but once in a while i support these bands as hip hop and pop music is just so awful today and has satirated the market, anyway i guess the end of this review is a good place to plug one other new retro band that has come along since 2009 and that band is from italy and they are called GUIDA they have 2 albums out one called racey roller (2010) and the new one from 2013 called lets play again, these guys are very good to but they totally go for the mid 70s BOOT BOY image however THEY DO IT VERY WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you love Bon Scott's AC/DC style of rock, then this is the album for you. Also, check out '77's other 2 albums and "42 Decibel".

Takes me back. 19 Sept. 2014
By C. J. D. Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
77' have a basic enjoyable crunchy rock sound with a lot of character, just like early AC/DC. Also as previously mentioned 42 Decibel are great and it is also worth checking out Free Fall. Enjoy.
