The Maxi-Cosi Tobi is designed to include the latest technology to ensure that you and your child enjoy your days out together. The Tobi is a forward-facing Group 1 car seat appropriate for children weighing from 9 kg to 18 kg, or 9 months to around 3.5 years.

As of September 2006, the use of safety belts in cars and approved child safety devices is mandatory for all children under 12 years old or less than 1.35 metres/4'5" in height for transport by car in the front and back seat. Every Maxi-Cosi car seat model--defined in the latest UN safety standard ECE R44.04--is specially designed for each age, as your child grows from birth to the age of 12.

Higher Riding Position : The Maxi-Cosi Tobi car seat makes it easy to see out of the car window thanks to a base that positions the seat higher up in the car.

Installation : The Tobi is installed using a standard 3-point seat belt and a clever belt routing system. The seat belt tensioner ensures the seat belt is secured extra tightly.

Harness Belt System : The Maxi-Cosi Tobi has a harness belt system that 'springs' open as soon as the belt buckle is opened. The belt buckle also acts as the control button for the belt system i.e. when the buckle is opened, the control of the shoulder belts is automatically released and the belts can be made longer.

Colour Indicator: This Group 1 car seat has a colour indicator to show that the seat is locked for driving.

Recline Positions: The Maxi-Cosi Tobi offers 5 comfortable recline positions for your little one, from sitting to sleeping. Pull the positioning handle under the front of the seat upwards and then pull or push the seat forwards or backwards.

Car Seat Cover: The Tobi's seat cover can be removed for washing. It is advisable to buy an extra cover when purchasing the car seat so that you can continue to use it even when the cover is being washed and dried. Pick a summer cover for your little one to stay cool when travelling in the Tobi.

Accessories: Accessories available (sold separately) for the Maxi-Cosi Tobi include summer cover, play tray, and pocket (holder for drinks and bottles).

Installing the Maxi-Cosi Tobi

Only use the Maxi-Cosi Tobi on a front-facing seat that has been provided with an automatic 3-point belt provided it has been approved according to the ECE R16 standard or similar. Correct fitting of the car seat belt is essential for the safety of your child. The car seat must be attached in the correct sequence along the red marks on the Maxi-Cosi Tobi.

Remove the headrest of the seat where the Maxi-Cosi Tobi is to be used in the car if it is in the way. Do not forget to put the headrest back when the seat is used again.

Maxi-Cosi Tobi and Your Baby--Safety Guidelines

Installation in a Car: The Maxi-Cosi Tobi is intended for car use only. The Maxi-Cosi Tobi must always be placed in a forward-facing position in the car. Lock fold-down rear seats before installing the Maxi-Cosi Tobi.

Airbags: The Maxi-Cosi Tobi may be used in the front seat and in the back seat, even if the car is equipped with an airbag. However, it is recommended for installation in the back seat. If this is not possible, make sure that, if installing on a front seat equipped with an airbag, the seat is in the rearmost position.

Use of Harness: Always secure your baby with the harness belt, even when he/she is not in the car. Ensure you clearly hear an audible 'click' when securing the harness. The belt system should be adjusted according to the height of the child. Make sure you can fit no more than one finger (1cm) between the harness belts and your baby. Ensure the shoulder belts are never twisted or damaged and are straight from the shell and across your baby's shoulders.

Headrest: Check to make sure the headrest of the Maxi-Cosi Tobi is adjusted to the proper height.

Sun Exposure: Always cover the car seat when exposed to direct sunlight in the car to avoid the cover, metal and plastic parts from becoming too hot for your child's skin.
