As of September 2006, the use of safety belts in cars and approved child safety devices is mandatory for all children under 12 years old or less than 1.35 metres/4'5" in height for transport by car in the front and back seat. Every Maxi-Cosi car seat model--defined in the latest UN safety standard ECE R44.04--is specially designed for each age, as your child grows from birth to the age of 12.

Installing the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP

Use the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP only on a front-facing seat that is fitted with an automatic or static 3-point belt that has been approved according to the ECE R16 standard or similar. Do not use a 2-point belt. Correct fitting of the car seat belt is essential for the safety of your child. The car seat belt must be installed following the red parts of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP.

Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP and Your Child--Safety Guidelines

Installation in a Car: The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP is intended for car use only. The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP must always be placed in a forward-facing position in the car. Lock fold-down rear seats before installing the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP.

Airbags: Deactivate the airbag if using the MaxiCosi XP on the front passenger seat. If this is not possible, place the passenger seat in the rearmost position.

Seat Belt: As your child is secured in the Rodi XP using the car seat belt, ensure that the belt is positioned at or 1 cm above the child's shoulder level.

Headrest : Remove the car seat headrest if it stops you from adjusting the headrest of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP to the desired height.

Back Support : Always install both components of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP--seat and back support. Make sure that fold-down rear seats are locked into position and that the back rest of the car seat is upright position.

Buckling Up: Ensure that the car seat belt under the stomach lie as low as possible, to properly support the pelvis.

Sun Exposure: Always cover the car seat when exposed to direct sunlight in the car to avoid the cover, metal and plastic parts from becoming too hot for your child’s skin.
