With its multiple recline positions, the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix offers high levels of comfort and convenience. The option to install with IsoFix or a car seat belt makes this car seat a safe and flexible choice, too. The PrioriFix is a forward-facing Group 1 car seat appropriate for children weighing from 9 kg to 18 kg, or 9 months to around 3.5 years.

As of September 2006, the use of safety belts in cars and approved child safety devices is mandatory for all children under 12 years old or less than 1.35 metres/4'5" in height for transport by car in the front and back seat. Every Maxi-Cosi car seat model--defined in the latest UN safety standard ECE R44.04--is specially designed for each age, as your child grows from birth to the age of 12.
- It is always the weight not the age of a child that dictates the choice of car seat.

Car Seat Cover: This car seat has an easily removable, washable seat cover. It is advisable to buy an extra cover when purchasing the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix so that you can continue to use the car seat at all times, even when washing or drying the cover. Dress up the PrioriFix in cooler colours with a summer cover (sold separately).
Accessories: Accessories available (sold separately) for the Maxi-Cosi PioriFix include summer cover, pocket (holder for drinks and bottles), play tray, and support pillow.
Install the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix using a standard 3-point car seat belt. The seat is installed forward facing. Never install the PrioriFix on seats equipped with frontal airbags.

Installing the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix
The Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix can be installed using the car's IsoFix system or with a regular 3-point seat belt.
IsoFix installation: If your car is equipped with IsoFix anchor points, you can install the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix using the IsoFix anchor points in combination with the support leg. Only use the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix on a forward-facing seat equipped with IsoFix anchor points.IsoFix is an international standardised system to install child car seats and is fitted in most new cars. The system guarantees superior, peace-of-mind protection for your child without the need for less reliable seatbelt attachment. The system consists of two anchor points located between the backrest and seat of the rear or front passenger seat that are connected to the body of the car.
Seat Belt Installation: If your car is not equipped with IsoFix anchor points, you can install the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix using a 3-point safety belt in combination with the support leg. The seat belt must be threaded along the red markings on the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix.The use of the support leg and/ or IsoFix, which ensure optimum safety and easy installation, mean that the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix is not suitable for all types of cars. The Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix is designated as 'semi universal' and therefore suitable for installation in certain types of cars.
Secure the car seat harness--ensure you hear an audible 'click'
Leave no more than 1 finger/1 cm gap between harness and child
Ensure the shoulder belts are never twisted or damaged
Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix and Your Child--Safety Guidelines
- Installation in a Car : The Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix is intended for car use only. The seat must always be placed in a forward-facing position. Make sure the fold-down rear seat is locked into position.
Airbags: Never use the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix on seats equipped with frontal airbags, as this can be extremely dangerous. This does not apply to 'side' airbags.
Support Leg: Always use the support leg to ensure the safe use of the Maxi-Cosi PrioriFix. Make sure the support leg is fully folded out. Also ensure that the indicator at the base of the support leg is completely green.
Seat Belt Installation: The seat belt needs to be as tight as possible and not twisted. The lap part of the seat belt is threaded under the red lap belt marking.
Use of Harness: Always secure your child with the harness belt. Before every use, make sure the harnesses are not damaged or twisted. Make sure that the shoulder belts fit properly over the shoulders of the child. Ensure you can fit no more than one finger between the harnesses and your child (1 cm).
Sun Exposure: Always cover the car seat when exposed to direct sunlight in the car to avoid the cover, metal and plastic parts from becoming too hot for your child's skin.

This isofix car seat is not difficult to fit once you get the hang of it and the leg support is at the right length. Its nicely padded and our baby seems very comfortable. It is quite high so Baby can easily see out of the windows and the reclining positions mean she can have a comfortable nap on long car rides.
The only real drawback is the weight. You will definitely need a helper to babysit if you need to fit it before use as it is very much a two handed job trying to manouvre the seat and support leg into the vehicle without scratching the paintwork.
If you intend to leave the seat in the car then this is the chair for you (although it may leave a dent in your car seat), and when choosing a seat I always go for safety above convenience and I have no doubt that my Baby is very safe in this chair.

We were recently involved in a head-on collision in which my 2 year old daughter was in the back passenger side in a Maxi Cosi Priorifix car seat. Even though our car was written off, the seat proved sturdy and safe, and while my husband and I came away with bruising from the seatbelts and I have a bit of whiplash, my daughter is completely unscathed, without a single bruise.
Yes it is a heavy carseat and I usually leave the fitting to my husband as I find isofix a bit tricky, but this pales in to insignificance when I think of how well the carseat did its job when it was needed most.
The very next day we went out and bought another Maxi Cosi Priorifix, and I would never go with any other now I have seen how well it does its job.

Got on fine with this seat until potty training my son when the seat was around 2-3 years old. Took the cover off to wash it and discovered the part of the seat belt harness down the back of the seat (i.e. the section that is completely hidden in normal use) was badly frayed. This was fairly scary since these are what hold your child in the seat in the event of an accident.
Even worse was the response from the manufacturers (Dorel UK) who we contacted as soon as we discovered this potentially life-threatening damage. Despite the fact that the seat was no more than a few months out of its two year warranty, they insisted that we courier the seat to their service centre in Norwich (at our expense) and then pay them £50 to look at the seat, a process which we were told could take up to four weeks. Obviously, during this time we would be without a car seat; no car journeys for us for a month.
So by all means buy one, but keep an eye on the straps (under the cover, down the back of the seat), be prepared to spend up to £80 getting it fixed, and don't expect anything approaching decent customer service from the manufacturer should something go wrong.
