As of September 2006, the use of safety belts in cars and approved child safety devices is mandatory for all children under 12 years old or less than 1.35 metres/4'5" in height for transport by car in the front and back seat. Every Maxi-Cosi car seat model--defined in the latest UN safety standard ECE R44.04--is specially designed for each age, as your child grows from birth to the age of 12.

Installation: Thanks to the special belt tensioner on the front, the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP installs securely in the car using a regular seat belt. The Priori XP car seat should be used with an automatic 3-point safety belt provided that this has been approved according to ECE R16 or an equivalent standard.

Car Seat Cover: This car seat has an easily removable, washable seat cover. It is advisable to buy an extra cover when purchasing the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP so that you can continue to use the car seat at all times, even when washing or drying the cover. Installing the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP

The Maxi-Cosi Priori XP can be installed using the car's standard 3-point seat belt. Thread the seat belt following the routing guides on the seat, between the shell and the base. Make sure that the lap belt section of the seat belt is threaded between the red hooks and the belt tensioner. After installation, push the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP firmly into the car seat whilst at the same time pulling the shoulder belt tight, so that the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP is securely in place. Maxi-Cosi Priori XP and Your Child--Safety Guidelines

Installation in a Car : The Maxi-Cosi Priori XP must only be used on a forward facing seat that is fitted with an automatic 3-point safety belt, which is approved according to ECE R16 or an equivalent standard. Do not use with a 2-point safety belt. The correct fitting of the seat belt is of vital importance for the safety of your child. The seat belt must be threaded along the red markings on the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP.

Airbags: Never use the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP on a seat equipped with a front airbag, as this can result in injury or death. This does not apply to 'side' airbags.

Use of Harness: Always secure your child with the harness belt. Before every use, make sure the harnesses are not damaged or twisted. Check that the shoulder belts fit properly over the shoulders of the child. Ensure you can fit no more than one finger between the harnesses and your child (1 cm).

Sun Exposure: Always cover the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP when exposed to direct sunlight in the car to avoid the cover, metal and plastic parts from becoming too hot for your child's skin.
