As of September 2006, the use of safety belts in cars and approved child safety devices is mandatory for all children under 12 years old or less than 1.35 metres/4'5" in height for transport by car in the front and back seat. Every Maxi-Cosi car seat model--defined in the latest UN safety standard ECE R44.04--is specially designed for each age, as your child grows from birth to the age of 12.

Installing the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix
The open design and IsoFix connectors of the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix lock the car seat to the bodywork of the car. Only use the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix on a front-facing seat that has been provided with an automatic 3-point belt provided it has been approved according to the ECE R16 standard or similar. Do not use a 2-point belt.
IsoFix is an international standardised system to install child car seats and is fitted in most new cars. The system consists of two anchor points located between the backrest and seat of the rear or front passenger seat that are connected to the body of the car.
Remove the car seat headrest if it stops you from adjusting the headrest of the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix to the desired height. Make sure to replace the headrest of the back seat of your vehicle when you remove the car seat.
Do not recline the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix when your child is in the seat

Maxi-Cosi FeroFix and Your Child--Safety Guidelines
- Installation in a Car: The Maxi-Cosi FeroFix is intended for car use only. The Maxi-Cosi FeroFix must always be placed in a forward-facing position in the car. Lock fold-down rear seats before installing the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix.
Seat Belt: As your child is secured in the Fero using the car seat belt, ensure that the belt is positioned at or 1 cm above the child's shoulder level.
Headrest : Check to make sure the headrest of the Maxi-Cosi FeroFix is adjusted to the proper height.
Back Support : The Maxi-Cosi FeroFix back support cannot be removed to ensure optimum safety.
Buckling Up: Ensure that the car seat belt under the stomach lie as low as possible, to properly support the pelvis.
Sun Exposure: Always cover the car seat when exposed to direct sunlight in the car to avoid the cover, metal and plastic parts from becoming too hot for your child's skin.

As a parent of 2 young children I want the car seats I use to be hassle free, safe, look good with a value for money. I have recently started using the Maxi Cosi FeroFix intense red car seat for my 5 year old daughter. The first thing that strikes you is the stylish design of the product. Its bold colours and texture of the fabric is so light and luxurious. My little one loved getting into it for the first time and I enjoyed how appealing it looked in the car.
When I first took the seat out of the packaging I was surprised how light it was and how easy it was for me to handle and carry to the car. The installation was simple, the instruction manual is easy to follow and the car seat was in quickly. The seat in itself is well designed as it's not oversized and bulky. I am particularly impressed how it has a recline position which I think will be a blessing when we do our annual 8hr drive to go on holiday hopefully making the journey more pleasant for the little one.
The car seat expands with the height/head piece so it provides a comfy seat to fit children's various age/size. The seat belt crossed over my daughter really well and I found it quick to get her belted in and ready to go (always a bonus with a baby on board) I absolutely love how it has retractable isofix connectors so it can be switched from car to car easily if I need too and fasten with a 3 point seatbelt.
All in all its an excellent car seat which tick both the aesthetic and safety boxes for me, the only possible downside is that it's a little costly but then it is a high quality product with many features that can justify this.

This car seat is easy to install & use and very comfortable. I bought it as our old, cheaper seat was useless whenever my little one fell asleep - she would flop forward, or slide out to the side. It's 3 times the price, but worth every penny.
In this car seat, she sleeps comfortably, well supported with her head on the back rest.
The recline is minimal, but enough to support. I keep it in the 'recline' position, as it's difficult to adjust when the child is sat in it, but it's pretty upright anyway.
I would definitely recommend this product - it's well made, very well cushioned, easy to install and the isofix arms retract so it can be used in cars without isofix points. (and easy to transfer between cars too). The height is very easy to adjust too.
We have the bright red, which seems is wearing well.
The only negative comment is that it's a little wider than the other seat (Graco), so the middle car seat is not useable (although it was only useable for very tiny bums with the old one). If you need to use your middle seat or have 3 car seats in the back, you might need to check they all fit before buying.

I have been selected by Maxi-Cosi to review the Ferofix car seat with my 4 year old daughter, who weighs just over 15kg and is a little short for her age.
The seat is available in SEVERAL COLOURS - Intense Red, Deep Blue, Marble Pink, Steel Grey, and Total Black. I normally always choose black, and my daughter really wanted a pink one, but the Marble Pink was a pale, lilac-pink which did not appeal to me at all, so I chose the Intense Red which I am very pleased with. There are also some circle patterns appliquéd on which jazz it up a little.
I love THE LOOK of this car seat, it appears very comfortable and looks top of the range. The seat cover is well made and it conceals all of the bulky plastic/foam parts of the seat (even around the back), that cheaper seats often leave revealed.
Having ISOFIX in my car and having never used it I did wonder how easy this seat would be to install, but it was very easy. You simply squeeze the grey IsoFix Release Buttons on the base and the IsoFix Connectors (arms) slide out, you then point them into your car's IsoFix slots, and it CLICKED INTO PLACE EASILY. It is great peace of mind to have the seat SECURELY FIXED INTO YOUR CAR, because the car seat I used before (non IsoFix) just sat there, and unless my daughter was strapped in, it would have a tendency to move about, and if I was to have an accident it could have flown forward and hit my seat from behind, so not great for safety.
I have asked my daughter if she likes the new seat and she says she does, and she finds it more COMFORTABLE than her old one. I can see why. It is very padded compared to many of the other seats on the market, and with the adjustable features it should mould to any child's shape and size easily. The HEADREST adjusts up and down easily by using the Positioning Handle on the top of the headrest, you just pull it up and down as you need, and it clicks into place. The Headrest has two padded sides which are very padded with Air Protect Technology, so when you squeeze them you can feel the air come out, and then re-inflate as such. The SIDE SUPPORTS are again very well padded, and they're not fixed in place, so they are flexible to fit different child sizes. This also helps when you child climbs in and out, so they don't keep knocking themselves on them.
The COVER appears to be easily removable, although I have not attempted to do so yet, but I no doubt will, as I do like to wash my car seat covers when they get grubby. This cover is recommended as hand wash only, but I would try it in my washing machine on a hand wash cycle.
The SEAT RECLINER is handy, although it is a minimal recline. You have to squeeze 2 handles to recline, and I have found these a little temperamental when the seat is fitted in the car. Generally I keep the seat in the upright position, and even when my daughter fell asleep the other day her head still fell back enough to stay upright, and the well-padded HEAD SIDE SUPPORTS kept her head from flailing about. This is A BIG THUMBS UP from me, as with our old car seat she would fall asleep and her head would slump forward and flail about side to side on cornering, which I did not like at all.
The SEAT BELT slots are good. The belt very easily goes into the Shoulder Slot and it doesn't fall out, so having a little press-release button is very good. The bottom corner where the belt sits across the lap is well positioned, and means I can EASILY REACH ACROSS to fasten and unfasten the seat belt.
The MANUAL has easy to follow instructions, and easily stores in an allocated slot on the bottom of the seat, so it's kept handy at all times. Although at one point when browsing the manual I thought there was an Anchor point that my seat should have, until I realised that this was a difference between an IsoFix seat and non-IsoFix, so it was not clear until I studied it really well, so at a glance this could be confusing. There are also VERY USEFUL DIAGRAMS on how to remove the covers for washing which is great for me as I like to wash my covers when they get grubby.
HELPFUL STICKERS can be found on the car seat's outer sides so you can see at any time how to install the seat into the car and how the seatbelt should be fastened correctly. Great if you give the seat to relatives and friends to use.

But I personally would be reluctant to purchase this seat at such a price (approx' £175) because I would be tempted by one of the lower priced alternatives on the market.
