The item is described as having a front bay that fits both 5.25 and 3.5 inch drive bays. Even the MAXValue packaging says this on the box it comes in.

The problem is that it doesn't come with a 5.25 inch cradle - just a 3.5 inch unit.

If you are going to place this in a spare floppy opening in your case that is fine but if it needs to go in a spare 5.25 drive bay you are out of luck and will need to find an adaptor to fit the larger opening.

To say this is annoying is an understatement (especially as MAXValue supply these cradles with other products in the range). I tried to contact MAXVAlue to ask for a 5.25 inch cradle but there is no documentation with customer support numbers and they don't appear to have a website (at least not as MAXValue).

I bought this item to add USB 2.0 ports to an aging PC I'd inherited, and it's done the job perfectly well - much more convenient than the rear-only cards and very cheap too. I was able to use the floppy bay (remember them?) with no real problems.

The instructions are comprehensive and, reflecting the fact it'll be used in old machines, go right back to Windows 98. On the XP machine I was upgrading I found I could install the card and it worked immediately - there was no need to load any drivers in advance (i.e. I was too impatient to read the instructions).

Recommended for rejuvenating old kit, especially for things like ipods and external drives where easy access to the ports is needed.
