Having read various reviews on various wifi cards ranging from very cheap ones to big name, big price cards it looked like whatever I bought was going to be a 50-50 chance of working beautifully or not at all. So I went for cheap and this one had several good reviews so I bought it.
Plugged straight in, installed straight away using the supplied CD. Within 5 minutes my network was up and running. Very good signal reception and so far no problems. So if like me you have doubts having read countless reviews go for this one, for me if I'd spent 5 x the price (which I could easily do) it wouldn't be any simpler or better. If it helps you decide I'm running XP Pro on an old dell latitude and my router is a BT branded e-wire device.

If you are buying this for windows 98 or ME STOP!!!
Unfortunately despite the advert and some of the other reviews declaring this has drivers for Windows 98 and windows ME it DOES NOT!. There are windows 98 drivers on the disk but for A DIFFERENT PRODUCT. You cannot get the right drivers from the web either.

Luckily I could upgrade my old laptop to XP. The product does what it says with XP and does it well, but is just something for the bin if you have 98 or ME.

This is a great PCMCI wireless card, which performed really well. Just as good as most more expensive cards. THe only grumble I have is with the supplied software.... the install instructions suggest using the supplied software (rather than Windows) to control your wireless set-up. Though in my experience the supplied software just hogs processor time. Though reverting back to Windows control solved the problem.

It took me 5mins to get up and running with this card. I can go anywhere in the house without no loss of signal strength. I can also take my laptop in the garden without no loss of signal strength. My signal meter always shows excellent strength. If you do exactly as advised by other folk on this site and let windows install the driver from the cd supplied with the card, then everything will work fine with no issues. This card is worth at least double the amount I paid for it. I'm an IT professional and this card is better than cards I purchased for twice the price. I'm running a very old Compaq Evo N1015v laptop, this card is backwards compatible with almost anything. If you want a wireless card that does exactly as it says on the box, then look no further, this is the card for you. I did my homework before buying this card and I'm very pleased with this product. I will definitely be purchasing some more of these cards.

This card is a cheap and easy way to connect your laptop to the internet. This was bought as a replacement to one of the USB style wireless adaptor, which due to the external plug in nature was easily knocked and damaged. This card is far more substantial and is working very well.

I bought this item based on other reviews seen here.
Unfortunately, my experience was not a good one.
Although this adapter recognises wireless networks, and even connects to them, it has a software/firmware problem that means it suffers a 50% data drop-out and therefore will not work. I suspect the supplied driver is at fault.
As there is no driver available on the web for download I could not improve the situation.
I will be returning this item to Amazon for a refund and consider another adapter.
It may be cheap, but you pays your money and.........

got this for my old laptop, works great in windows as long as you install it via the method of plugging it in, letting windows ask you for drivers and then getting windows to search the CD

tried this on my ubuntu installation on the same laptop to no avail, so get the next one up in amazon which is this (Edimax EW-7108PCG)

might try NDISWrapper to get it to work with windows drivers in linux but i'd recommend something more stable in all honesty

    good value buy though

Recieved mine this very morning to replace a dead Linksys one and had no problems.

Like other reviewers I recommend letting Windows Hardware Wizard install the driver off the CD and ignore the software.

I haven't tried it's own software but I'm sure it's own like Linksys's and other brands are likely to be unnecessary bloat. I know for a start that using Windows' wireless connection with this card is faster than using Linksys's software with my old card.

The only downside is negligible: The card has bland generic writing on the label (it also came in a plain white box) and the status lights are the wrong way 'round when I put it into my laptop.
But, I just wanted a cheap and reliable way to get wireless on my laptop and this did it; no fuss. Perfect. For less than a tenner this should be your first choice.
