WINDOWS 7 ultimate 64bit user:
I retired my old laptop but I have some PCMCIA cards that I still want to keep using, like a firewire and a USB hub.
I experienced a very frustating episode during installation, I still do not why the free PCI port that I selected to install it, stangely, did not fit and half of the card refused to enter the PCI slot, but the worst part was that the other half got stuck really hard and I was not able to pull the card out, after several minutes dealing with it (after a lot of frustration) I was able to get the card out. Checking the PCI slot and the card there was no damage, but also no clear reason for that fit issue. I decided to test the other free PCI slot and like a miracle the card fitted like silk, easy to remove and easy to reinstall it. I was saving this PCI slot as is the one near the PCI-e with the "hot" GPU, but I had to use that PCI slot.
After that bad experience I was specting some kind of issue with Win7 as the included installation guide just explain that the card is compatible with almost all Windows until XP, no words about Vista or Win7, but as soon as Win7 booted it detected the adapter and installed the drivers in seconds, and that was all.
To test it, I inserted a firewire PCMCIA card that also did not came with any drivers and compatible with all Windows until XP, but Win7 also detected the PCMCIA firewire and got the drivers from the air, also the same for the USB hub, and the WiFi-g adapter.
Still no logical reason for that bad experience during the installation, so I recomment to proceed with somo caution and to recomments to do not "force" the card into the PCI slot, if you feel any resistance to plug the card into the slot, inmmediatly remove it and if you are not successful just try another PCI slot or swap with any other PCI component.
Best regards.
