Product Description

A classic and compact picture book specifically designed to encourage reading time! It's not easy being the son of legendary superheroes Captain Lightning and Madam Thunderbolt. Max has a cape and a mask, but he doesn't fly. His parents can't understand it. It seems that Max is just an ordinary boy, until finally, to save a falling baby bird, Max discovers he can fly! He'll be a small hero, doing small deeds - "The world needs more of those," says his mum. Winner of the 2000 Smarties Prize Gold Medal. "Walker Reading Time" books are a new series designed to offer all the fun and variety you need to make story time the highlight of the day. The manageable format is ideal for reading to your child - or for your child to read to you!

Max the Superhero 24 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback
Max is a baby in a long line of superheros, so as all parents do, his expect him to follow in their footsteps and start flying. But he doesn't, for quite a while. But then a little emergency spurs him into action, and he is suddenly flying before he even knows it. A great book for doing good things to everyone, no matter how large or small you are.

Appealed to the kid in me 13 Aug 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
It is the cartoon like pictures that make Max, the book, so fun and Max, the boy, so likeable. The story is alla bout the familiar problem of not quite being able to do something that is expected of one--in this case flying like his superhero parents. The parents are clearly distressed by this, but try their darnedest not to let Max feel too badly about it. One day he finally does fly to save a falling bird. The morals come on a little thick then--people learn at their own rates, it is ok to b a minor hero. Even my teen-age daughters appreciated that Max wished his mother would not hug him in public. This is not an earth shaking tale, but it is an enjoyable one.
A true superhero 4 Feb 2009

Max is the son of two superheroes but cannot fly. This concerns his parents and superhero grandparents as they live their lives in a lightning bolt shaped house in Anywhere, USA. When a baby bird falls from its nest before it is ready to fly, Max finally takes to the air to save it, making his parents and grandparents proud. Max continues to save the world in his own little ways, showing us all what it means to be a superhero. I got this for my son, Max, who, whenever given a chance, always wishes he could be a superhero.
This is a great read aloud book.

I bought this book for my nephew, Max. It is an adorable story and even though he had already read the book, he was excited to own it.
