Product Description

I really liked this guide; it was highly informative, easy to read, and has a lot of useful maps. -- Black Issues Book Review Magazine, Beach Bag by K.M. Westbrook

From the Author

I wrote this guide after living in Bermuda and realizing there is another side that visitors need to know about. And, if you wish to save money (and who doesn't?), then this book is for you, as I have included everything I wrote in my first book, Bermuda on a Budget (which Pelican Publishing asked me to turn into one of their successful Maverick guides).

Most travel guide books are written by a group of writers who visit the destination for a week or two. I have spent seven years in Bermuda and know every hotel, restaurant, beach, park and historic property, and more.

The ONLY Book You Need 10 Jun. 2000
By Carole Sousa - Published on
Format: Paperback
I am in my 16th year in Bermuda and consequently have read dozens of books about Bermuda. This one is it. Anyone asking for information on this country will receive my highest recommendation for this extensively researched work. The scope and detail, the double cover map, and the easy reading style provide an invaluable resource for not only tourists but new residents and locals as well. Every Bermudian home should have this book on hand.

Directed us to delightful places not in any other guide book 31 Dec. 2004
By culturep0p - Published on
Format: Paperback
After taking a tour at the Botanical Gardens, we followed Ms. Harriott's recommedation and ate at the hospital cafe across the street. And who did we see but our tour guide from the gardens. Boy, was he surprised to see us! How did we ever find out about this place?? The Maverick Guide, of course. The fish cakes are delicious, by the way. This book is a great way to get to out-of-the way places and a real flavor of Bermuda. Highly recommended!

Great For Tourists, Bermudians AND Travel Agents! 30 July 2004
By Judith H. Malley - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book is incredible; Ms. Harriott obviously knows Bermuda extremely well and has checked and re-checked her information. As someone specializing in helpling people plan their Bermuda vacations I constantly use the book as a resource. It has been invaluable to me.

As far as the slight error mentioned in another review I don't think there is a soul out there that doesn't know September 11th as the date our world crashed down. It was obviously an editorial mistake!

Not as good as others here suggest 3 Nov. 2006
By Alan Kaye - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
The Maverick guide to Bermuda didn't meet the high expectations set by other reviews here.

There isn't a whole lot to the book, it isn't full of secret suggestions as others suggested. Instead there is much on the obvious basics and little beyond.

Our family did enjoy the chapter discussing some of the colorful history of Bermuda, but otherwise I regret the purchase. I suspect one of the other guidebooks would have been a better choice.

I do recommend Bermuda!

Worried about the accuracy of this book..... 30 July 2004
By jclapet - Published on
Format: Paperback
Page 22: "Important Note: Since the events of September 9, 2001, to ensure the safety of your flight the airline rules have changed dramatically..."

Although the parts I did read I enjoyed, this seemed like rather a large error and made me question the accuracy of the rest of the information. Unless I missed something in the news on 9/9/01.
