I only had a few days in Port Louis on business, and a quick swim in the sea on the way back across to the airport, but the book is well written and I could read it non-stop for interest, and gave me lots of background on the island and issues. Its true that Port Louis does not seem to have anything happening after dark, which feels strange. Overall it was a bit scant and the taxi drivers told me there are more mid-range hotels that have come up that are much better than the ones reviewed. I would have liked more detail, but it was a very useful book and gave rise to some excellent jogs around the town, including up to the fort to watch the sunset sweep over the town and a fantastic overview of rehearsals for independence day. Happy to recommend this book.
