I bought this for my nephew's 5th birthday and I've bought him some 'add ons' for Christmas to go with it. I think every little boy should have a castle to play with. I had a big wooden one which I still remember and this FisherPrice Imaginext one ticks all the boxes . . .

In the box you get -

- The Castle which measures (L) 24 x (W) 11 x (H) 17 inches (but can be opened up to 40 inches!)
- Three knights with removable helmets (because they didn't always have them on!) shields and swords, one has a battleaxe
- 2 catapults
- 1 external/moveable canon with 2 canon missiles (this interacts electronically with the castle)
- 8 projectile discs (that can be fired from the castle defence canon or the catapults)
- A treasure chest
- 2 ladders
- 4 flags (that attach to the castle)
- A set of illustrated stickers to stick on the castle/flags

This is one mighty structure! The build quality is first class as expected from such a big name in children's toys. The castle is made from tough thick moulded plastic that feels like stone in texture. There's a bit of weight to it too. This thing can take a medieval beating from any kid of the round table and some more! It feels like it will last for years.

All the accessories are well made too and feel good/solid in the hand.

The castle can be configured into different designs by folding the sides in or out. Pulled out straight across this thing is around 3 feet long! Or you can fold all the walls around to have a castle with a courtyard. It has lights and sounds are activated when you move certain parts which all adds perfectly to the fantasy. Windows can be opened /closed as can the drawbridge and if you come under attack from the Black Knight 'Zab' and his minions you can put the castle into defence mode which locks it down by closing the drawbridge with two sets of claws clasping it shut, shutters the windows off from the enemy and a disc firing launcher pops out from over the drawbridge to fire the supplied discs to fend off any shadow dwelling trolls.

The canon can be 'detected' by the castle and shouts of "Ready the canon, adjust the sights" can be heard and when it fires the missile a "ka-boom!" then explosion can be heard. Excellent stuff indeed.

The figures and weapons are really good and feel solid too.

There's tons of additional accessories to go with this castle and quite some 'medieval/fantasy' world could be put together here.

This is a cracking toy which would be a top christmas present, is well built, looks brilliant with vibrant colours, can be added to and will give many many hours of imaginative fun!

Highly recommended

Bought for my 4 year old's birthday. He adores it as did Daddy, grandads and uncles and aunties! Everyone wanted to play with it with him which he love too.
The accessories are robust and we keep finding new things to do with it. Can't wait til Christmas to get some more accessories like the dragon.
I can't recommend this highly enough.

The Imaginext Castle is great. The best thing about it is that it needs no assembly and folds up smaller when not in use for storage. My 5 year old son loves it, and there is so much to play and interact with that most of the time he actually plays with together with his brother, without fighting!! We also have the dragon accessory which works with it, there is no set up, just remove it from its packaging and the castle 'senses' it straight away. The only disadvantage is that the plastic missile type things that the cannon fires are not that sturdy, and after a couple of days play (admittedly near constant use) they are starting to bend. I don't think it will be long before they snap. I wonder whether you can buy them separately? But all in all, a great castle, and so much easier for not having to assemble it!

We love Imaginext in our house... The quality of the materials, construction etc is really good and very tough. Really impressed with this Castle and the children love it! ... Lots of figures, add on cannons and treasure chest etc.

We have a few add on bits such as the Battering Ram, And the castle detects the Ram when fired and has 'action sounds'....

Really pleased...lots of hours of play to come....

Great castle, very good quality and the kids love it. The sensors are very good on it and when you buy other imaginext toys they all interact with each other and its very sensitive which is good. For example, the dragon we has does not need to be anywhere near it, it just works and the castle shouts out Dragon!

The kids spend hours playing with this.

My Grandson loved the toy (and so did his older brother). The 'missiles' are great fun without being dangerous and all the little apertures, mechanical elements and break-in spots led to lots of play while encouraging the development of hand-eye co-ordination etc. However, the package arrived open with no invoice. The courier had been very careful with it as it arrived with them inadequately taped so I don't think anything was missing, largely due to the secure packaging by the maker, although as it is open fronted damage could easily have occurred. There was not enough tape and what was on it had been exposed to contamination so it did not stick. Happy outcome but not thanks to seller. It did arrive promptly, though.

Cannot wait to see my sons face when he opens this on Christmas morning! Brilliant toy with lots to keep them entertained, and the option to purchase additional pieces/figures/etc for future presents. Bought for £39.99 (free delivery) so very good value for money, arrived the next day and was well packaged. Very pleased!

Bought this for my son for his 4th birthday and he loves it. It's made from a really tough plastic so it takes the 4 year old batterings easily. You can fold it to use it as a smaller castle but he tends to open it up to make it larger. It makes noises, the weapons shoot and he also has a Dragon, Good Knight and Eagle (all bought separately).

The additional toys are really cool because they have the ability to interact with each other. All in all a great buy and it doesn't take up too much space when packed away either.

I bought this for my nearly 4 year old nephew, it's for Christmas, but I'm seriously considering keeping it for myself. OK, I'm kidding, but it's a really fun toy, especially when combined with the other toys that are compatible with the castle. I also got the dragon and the catapult. The castle reacts when the other toys are activated and it's a real hoot. I paid £40 for the castle and that's a great price to look for. The current £60 price is a bit much.
Update - Wellover a year later and it's still going strong.

I was dubious about buying this for my 7 year old son as he is nearing the recommended upper age for it. But he has played with it every day since Christmas. Lots going on and hours of fun.
