I cannot comment about how far this book covers current exam syllabuses, but as a book introducing some key areas of maths it is really superb. I have been using it for self-study, to brush some of my maths in my sixties. Explanations are crystal clear, and there are plenty of exercises, with solutions at the back of the book. The focus is (except for the last chapter) on pure mathematics. The choice of topics is good and interesting: techniques for handling equations (including cubic equations), inequalities, logs, geometry, conics, trigonometry, co-ordinate geometry, calculus, curve sketching, vectors, complex numbers, combinatorics, sequences and series, and the concept of a function. The explanations and exercises take you into the topics in some depth. Unreservedly recommended, both for learning about topics for the first time and for refreshing your knowledge.
