Don't panic!!!! 15 Oct 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
After reading a previous review about this book I would like to point out that although some mistakes may occur in the book (as you will find in most Maths books by Edexcel) but from what i have seen it doesn't seem like such a bad book. I am a second year 6th form student studying for my full A-level (normally 2 years) in one year. After starting with the old syllabus last year i have found the new syllabus incredibly easy compared to the old. So a word of advice to those who look at these books then at an old style exam paper, don't panic if there is stuff you don't know on it, the change has been huge!!
Good luck to all Maths students.

Good book 25 May 2005
By karen
Format:Paperback
This book is good for AS maths, with good layout.
Also, on the topic of mistakes, those books were renewed after the massive amount of mistakes were found. We saw loads of mistakes at the start of the year, and our teachers complained. New ones were posted to us, renewed, and now all the answers (for questions that I have done anyway) are right, and I found my exam, which was on monday, a breeze with the help of this book, and the revision book that's also made by heinemann for edexcel, which I would HIGHLY recommend for people next year.

I have used this book both in class as part of the teaching and also to revise from at home in the run-up to the exam. Each topic is clearly labelled and everything is structured in order. Key points/facts are in bold to be easily identified by the reader. One of the best features of the book is that each topic contains WORKED EXAMPLES that show us the method used to obtain an answer. This is much more beneficial than just providing an answer. At the end of each topic there are exercises to test whether the knowledge has sunk in.

The Review Exercises are especially helpful as they provide a huge selection of PAST EXAMINATION QUESTIONS to try. This, I think, is very good preparation for the real exam. All questions have answers at the back (although be wary there are a few mistakes) and also a P1 Examination Style Paper to try.

For complete high quality learning materials you should also purchase REVISE FOR P1 MATHEMATICS as this contains even more worked examples and questions to try.

Good luck with your studies and I hope the Heinemann suite of books increase your enjoyment for learning Mathematics. It certainly has mine!

SHOCKING
Mannall and Kenwood really ought to be ashamed of themselves for this effort.

This book is of virtually no value to a student attempting to study P2 on their own. Read more
