Product Description

Review

This is the highly enjoyable sequel to Mates, Dates and Inflatable Bras and continues the story of Lucy and her friends from the perspective of the astrologically inclined Izzie. Izzie is a borderline hippie into organic food, aromatherapy, horoscopes, tarot, feng shui and all things Eastern. She also loves to be different and when she has to go to her boring stepsister's wedding she dyes her hair green and cannot stand the music performed by Ben, the nerdily suited wedding singer. While shopping in Camden she meets the gorgeous Mark working on an aromatherapy stall. They exchange phone numbers and Izzie is well and truly besotted. But the course of true love rarely runs smoothly and Izzie is soon in the 'wastepaper bin in relationship corner', checking her horoscope, doing her tarot, trying a love charm and even feng shui-ing her bedroom while she waits for him to call. But Mark is Mr Unreliable and leaves Izzie feeling more and more desperate. Thankfully her friends persuade her to go to see King Noz, a band who are playing at the school disco and lo and behold the lead singer is Ben, who turns out to be surprisingly cool. The two of them arrange to get together to write some songs but Izzie has learnt her lesson and says that she will call him. This is a great story of girl power, emphasizing the importance of friendship over romance; when Izzie is at her most depressed and seriously in danger of losing the plot it is Lucy and Nesta who come to her rescue. Like its predecessor it is written in an engaging style and is interspersed with top tips from Nesta and Izzie's song lyrics and poetry. An entertaining read for younger teenage girls. --Kirkus UK

Book Description

Wednesday night: no call.
Thursday night: no call.
Friday morning: NO CALL.
I'm going out of my mind. Perhaps he lost my number? Perhaps he put the card in his jeans and his mum washed them and it got soaked? Perhaps saying he'd phone was a way of getting rid of me?
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
It's time to consult the stars.

Izzie is cool, bright and sassy. And when she meets the gorgeous Mark, she's on a real high. He's divine. And he likes her! But why doesn't he call when he says he will? Desperate to make sense of things, Izzie spends her time checking her horoscope. And stays at home, just in case he calls. When Izzie loses her perspective and her sense of fun, best friends Lucy and Nesta try to give her a reality check. But there are some things you'd rather not hear... --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same girls and even better that 'Inflatable Bras', 6 Jul 2001
By A Customer
More great about the girls we first met in Mates, Dates and Inflatable Bras. Only this time the focus is on Izzy and her big time boy trouble. She thinks the answer lies in the stars, well horoscopes anyway. When Lucy and Nesta try to bring her down to earth with a major shot of reality. Dont go there girls.Plenty of laughs from a writer that really knows kids.
