A fascinating book that contains an amazing amount of information and does indeed provide an inspirational introduction to materials. Richly presented: the book is visually stunning, with some truly delightful applications, yet thoughtful layout and an approachable style make the book very accessible.
Initially, I included this book on my reading list for a module on materials delivered to product designers. Having spent some time with the book, I now also recommend it to my engineering students to open their eyes to inspirational applications which go beyond the day-to-day "functional" properties of materials.
A book to continually dip into rather one to read cover-to-cover; a rich, comprehensive resource to return to again and again.

Very nice book, contains some really origonal materials and uses for them. Inspirational, and it even includes the nice little treat of having a list of websites and contact details for the manufacturers of the materials, along with other various pieces of information of key features such as "Superior Flatness". Truly a God send for designers and architects!

Absolutely worth the money

We bought this book and like a lot of books you buy from Amazon, it can be a case of "hope it wasn't a waste of time" - this books was not - it's awesome, an absolute win. It's so much better than I thought it would be that it makes up for the "misses" we had with other books in the same shipment. It's a great snap shot of materials, their uses, examples and even rough costs of materials. If you're a designer and are wondering what material to use, get this book, it's a great step in the right direction.

Chris Lefter did a very good job combining his previous books. If you are a product designer, this book will definately benefit your career.
