5.0 out of 5 stars super! 11 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
This book was a breath of fresh air! inspiring colour, inspiring quilts!Within a week of receiving the book i had put some of my stash to work and made one of the quilts from this book.My only dilema was which one to pick! After that it was plain sailing as the instructions actually are good to follow and tips on which fabric to cut first actually would have saved me fabric (if i had followed them!).I am allready planning my next project from the book and i am eyeing fabric in a new light!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best quilt book in my collection 2 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
I own a few lovely quilting books, but this is by far my favourite (although I haven't bought their second book yet!)and I am currently carrying it around the house with me to read whilst cooking the childrens dinner etc! I am fairly new to quilting, but the mouth-watering colours and modern designs in this book have really inspired me to move away from the more 'traditional' quilting projects. Its written clearly and instructions are easy to follow with lots of diagrams and colour photos for each stage of each quilt. I am making the 'house & people' quilt at the moment and this book has given me the courage to really go for more random shapes. I look forward to making many of the others too, and now have added the second book to my wish-list (my birthday is soon!). I only wish I could visit their shop...Australia is such a long way away!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious 1 April 2009
Format:Paperback
I love this book! The cover photography reflects the contents very well with a lovely selection of bright and breezy quilts. Each quilt comes with a little 'Story' narative, which makes this a nice 'read' as well as a good project book. My only negative comment is that I don't like the hand sketched diagrams and templates, but that's a personal thing, don't let it put you off. All in all a lovely publication.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous designs, many combining applique 18 Sep 2008
Format:Paperback
Gorgeous book of contemporay quilt designs. Many combine applique.
I'm new to quilting although not new to sewing and found the instructions clear although think they could have made the fabric requirements a little clearer as the quilt I'm making says using 10" x 12" pieces of fabric of so many colours - I had to buy in meters or yards so wasn't sure of I could buy less in length as the fabric would be wider.
Some great instructions for beginers too on the basics, but it doesn't take up chapters and chapters for those non- beginers.
Beautiful photos

A lovely book, beautiful colour photos and easy to follow instructions, I loved the fact that the templates were full size - no need to source a photocopier - projects range from easy to advanced, something for everyone. Thoroughly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Delicious Book! 9 Sep 2010
By Mrs. H. V. Minor VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is one of the most delicious collections of patchwork quilts I have ever seen and all of them should be within the reach of eager quilters. The difficulty of the quilts is graded, starting with easy but very beautiful quilts that show off the fabrics they are created from as much as the patchwork patterning which is simple, the book then moves on into greater complexity of pattern and, joy of joy, describes how to applique and also gives applique patterns. This latter feature is what I bought the book for as I am not that genned up on this skill but want to incorporate it into a quilt at some stage. This book is a real inspiration to anyone who wants to practice the glorious art of "painting with fabric" that is patchwork quilting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book 13 July 2010
Format:Paperback
The authors of this book are obviously skilled and passionate and the designs are lovely. I was a little disappointed to read that the first design labelled 'easy', featuring a very elegant quilting pattern, can only be achieved using a commercial long arm machine. My only other comment would be that some of the patterns are very involved and the book even says that some of the quilting could take months or years to complete! So perhaps not a book for the easily distracted... All of that said it is a really lovely book with lots of ideas and information, and I will certainly be making several of the designs.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the more dedicated quilter 23 Jun 2010
By Homebod
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got this book along with two others for my birthday. This book is the most traditional quilting book I have, the other are more projects rather than quilts. I love the look of many of the quilts, but being new to quilting, and not having loads of time on my hands, I am a little daunted. These are proper quilts. The patterns are fun and modern, but there are no real shortcuts and I think most of the projects would take me at least several weeks to complete, if not longer. Obviously, if you can spend a few days straight quilting, then you could probably finish a lot in week, but I haven't got that luxury unfortunately!

I do like the applique on the quilts and I really like the colour combinations. I like the way each quilt is photographed in an 'in use' setting, but also flat, so you can see exactly what it should look like. The instructions are thorough and I like the introductions to each project.

If you love quilting and want to make modern, colourful and interesting quilts, this is a great book. I would say a novice could do many of the projects, but they are quite big projects for someone who perhaps isn't that speedy with technique!
