Format: Mass Market Paperback
When Aaron Lear learned he was dying of cancer he decided to make his three daughters learn to stand on their own two feet and face life head on! He began with his oldest, Robin.
Robin Lear was the vice president of LTI's Southwest Operations. Since Robin had grown up with money she never thought about how much she spent or where. Expensive brand names were important to her. Taking the company's jet to Paris, France, for an afternoon of shopping was a common event. When Robin found out her father was dying, shock was her first reaction. He had always seemed invincible in her eyes. Robin and Aaron were never close because no matter how hard she tried, Robin could no nothing worthy of her father's respect. Suddenly he was demoting Robin and expected her to learn the business from the bottom ... and like it!
Jake Manning was hired by Robin to renovate her newly purchased house. It would take several months for Jake and his small team to complete. Jake believed Robin to be an ice princess. Someone he had to deal with in order to earn the money he so desperately needed to finish his degree. Jake's life had never been easy and he had a few people depending on him. So Jake knew he should do the work quickly and keep away from the tempting Miss Lear.
***** This is the first of a trilogy. It follows the oldest daughter, Robin. Author Julia London excels in Contemporary Romance and this story will show you how much. Full of sassy characters and lots of humor. I could not stop myself from reading. Therefore, I lost a lot of sleep. Excellent! *****

This is the first in the trilogy about the Lear Sisters. The luxurious life of the Lear sisters is shattered when they try to come to terms with the illness of their rich and powerful father. He, of course, does not make it easy for them by trying to correct what he considers is his mistakes. This book concentrates on his oldest daughter, Robin who works for his firm. He feels she has had it too easy and has not really learned the basics of the business. Robin meets Jake when she employs him to refurbish her house and so the rich world meets the poor world. It is a typical romantic story line but it has lots of twists along the way. The characters are great. Although Robin and Jake are the main characters there are many other endearing ones to encounter. The writing style was pleasant and easy to read but I felt it was very long winded and I was bored before I was captivated hence the three star rating. Im glad I persisted though as I enjoyed the latter half of the book. It is one that can be read anywhere at all.

Struggled at the beginning as Robin got on my nerves a little bit. However as I read on and her character developed I got to like her a lot better (Probably what the author intended of course!) Loved Jake and thoroughly enjoyed the book by the end of it and will go on to read the other two.

Not really interesting book. It is the opposite story of Cinderella. The relationship between Jack and Robin is poor of details and very boring. She is the usually rich girls who doesn't mind how much spend and he's the very good normal guy who teach her the love. I don't suggest to anyone. It was struggle to arrive at the end.

Bought this for my holiday thinking it would be OK. I loved it and want to read about the sisters now. The characters were totally believable and I felt like I got to know them. Didn't like her Father, but he came around in the end and the creepy ex was exactly that, creepy.

Easy read...I enjoyed it and liked the idea that it tied with two other books. I bought the three so it gave me a long, feel good read.
