I liked practically every one of the stories in this collection – some of them recording a seemingly trivial incident though it might be far from trivial to the characters in the story, others dramatic, and even tragic. The writing, as ever with Bennett, is terse, precise, and beautiful. It is a very enjoyable book that you can put down and then look forward to picking it up again for another helping of delight.
