Book Description

Do you constantly worry about the "what ifs" of life? Does your anxiety over events that have yet to happen cause you physical discomfort? If you are prone to problems with anxiety and worry, you may suffer from Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Those who have been diagnosed with GAD know that it can cause chronic tension, fatigue, irritability and difficulties sleeping. What can be done to help? In recent years it has been proven that the most effective treatment for GAD is a program like the one outlined in this book, based on the principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). Written by renowned therapists, this Workbook includes all the information you need to learn the appropriate skills to combat your anxiety and worry. For use in conjunction with supervised therapy, this book makes it easy for you to become an active participant in your treatment. Bring the workbook to your sessions while your therapist uses the corresponding Mastery of Your Anxiety and Worry, Therapist Guide to teach you techniques to help you relax and decrease your level of anxiety. This revised workbook includes user-friendly devices to aid you in overcoming your excessive worry, such as self-assessment quizzes, homework exercises, and case studies of individuals experiencing the same issues as you. It also includes interactive forms that can be photocopied or downloaded from the companion website, for you to monitor your progress throughout treatment. This one of a kind resource allows you to work alongside your therapist to personalise your treatment strategy and learn recovery skills that are useful for a lifetime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the time and money 24 Nov 2007
By Erik B. Rinderle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
At the request of my counselor, I purchased this workbook, and can I tell you how much it helped me master my anxiety. It's not a "block the anxiety" kind of book. Instead, the authors give you exercises to work with your anxiety - let it become part of you without tearing you apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mastery of Your Anxiety and Worry 22 Jan 2008
By Singing Girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
My major HMO in Northern California uses this book for at least one of its overcoming anxiety classes. This workbook breaks down the symptoms and thinking errors that cause anxiety into simple, easy to understand chapters. Each chapter builds upon the previous one, so it is important to do the exercises in each chapter before progressing to the next chapter. It is a workbook, and it will require work. However, the work required will be worth it. This text helped me to finally understand my feelings and gave me very valuable techniques to employ to reduce the anxiety episodes I was having. I highly recommend this workbook to anyone struggling with anxiety !

5.0 out of 5 stars It really does work 9 Oct 2009
By Jeff - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The book is really helpful, but will require a little homework. It not only helps you understand what is going on, but it guides you in an easy to follow format on how to feel better. It is not the typical "self help book". It allows you to feel what you feel, instead of someone just telling you how you feel. This book is great on your on or to work through with a professional.
