it goes withot saying the images are by a master.
the book does not do the artist justice
the book itself and the images within are little more than A5 in size, with poor binding.
A book of this type by an artist such as Sorayama deserves to be published in oversize format, in hardback and strong binding.
Sorayama I presume sees the proof of each book in his name. He or his agent should have seen that the small size of the book does not do the art work justice.

Whilst I agree with the previous reviewer that an oversize format would be most welcome - this would obviously make the book greatly more expensive. On the whole I am pleased with this purchase, the imagery is truly fantastic, only wish I could draw/paint to this standard...

Pros: Over 400 pages packed with images mostly of erotically charged female forms by a true master of this art form.

Cons: Hardly any text - a creation date and a sentence or two from sorayama in reference to the images would have been most welcome.

Outstanding book, with a great deal of fantastic illustrations, not all of them at the best size but it's ok, you get so many of them !

Sorayama has this soft-porn sadistic fantasy that he mixes with pin-up referencies...all this can look maniac, but in the end, he is a superb illustrator, kind of sex-obsessed but intensely glamour....

A must !

It's a shame the book is not A4 and in hardback, but it's still the most comprehensive collection of Sorayama's works in a single publication.

Sorayama Masterworks 20 Sept. 2013

For anyone familiar or collecting compiliations of Sorayama's works, this is a good addition. The works are reproduced in brilliant color and give an excellent of his craft and talent. Some of the prints are small, but still visible to appreciate the detail. To put all the prints in full size on a single page, the book would have been massive, because the works are so numerous, one can appreciate the sheer volume and talent as well in his work.

Sorayama's History in Images 28 Feb. 2011

A very well printed book with so many images of Mr. Sorayama's work it is also overwhelming. Some of the images are quite small - which I find a bit insulting as all are equally important. Maybe it would have been wiser to bring this out in two volumes to give all of his work equal space. I have loved his work for years and am always interested to see what he will think up next.

A panorama of several years the artist can be seen in this book! A pity that the small format does not do justice to its beautiful illustrations! Anyway an indispensable item!
Must Have for Sorayama Fans 11 Aug. 2013

This is a good one. Tons of high quality pictures of his work. I've browsed it lots of times for my own creative inspiration. The only down side to this work is that some pictures are printed too small--smaller than baseball card size. Aside from that, it's pure gold.

Blown away!!!! 8 Mar. 2011

I LOVE this book! I've been a fan for years and have each of his previous books, as far as I know. Occasionally, I'll see a title that, I'm guessing, was only released in Japan. Anyway, this book is fantastic. It was exactly as I had hoped. As far as I can tell, none of the art has been cropped for whatever strange editorial reasons. The binding and paper are of very high quality. And the printing looks SHARP. Although many images are scaled down severely so that several images can fit on one page, I don't hold that against the publisher. There are SO MANY pieces represented that to show all of them even to a quarter page each would push the book beyond reasonable thickness and price.

I highly recommend this book and will be giving several copies as gifts this year. I hope that one day they will reprint this in an oversized edition. His work definitely deserves a larger format.
