Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Mushroom Men, The Spore Wars continues the story started on the DS version. The Spore Wars rage fully across the miniature landscape. Pax does not yet understand his place in the world of Mushrooms, when he accidentally absorbs a meteorite while training with the Bolete Sage. Pax is then banished until he can bring back another of the life-giving rocks that the Sage believes made the Mushrooms sentient.

Along the way, Pax encounters more than he expects. It becomes obvious to him that there is more to the Mushroom world than a meteorite for his village. A war that Pax doesn't understand moves closer to his home and the Mushroom races and others head toward self-destruction.

Along the way, Pax begins to understand more about what he must do to help the Bolete and the rest of the world. Throughout his adventure Pax changes from an awkward misfit to a species-saving hero.

Product Description

Time has passed since the 'Rise of the Fungi' and indeed the Amanita and Lepiota societies have brought war to the peaceful Bolete and Morel mushroom tribes. Some among the Mushroom Men believe that the secret to winning the Spore Wars lies in uncovering the facts about the Mushroom's origins. As the Myth states, the mushroom who discovers the truth of their origins is promised the power to change the entire course of evolution, putting the mushroom species at the top of the evolutionary ladder. The tribe that claims this prize can reshape the world any way they see fit. The Amanitas and the Leopiota see the myth as a chance to not only defeat other nations, but also to wipe out all their enemies and put their tribes at the forefront of terrestrial evolution.

  • Unique action platformer for the core gamer while approachable enough for the casual audience
  • Players explore and battle their way through more than 9 lush and spooky levels in an oversized and hostile world
  • Play as heroic misfit Pax, through his quest to find a replacement meteorite chunk
  • Take on fast paced single-player adventure, or bring a friend in Cooperative mode
  • Spore-based powers take advantage of unique Wii controls, while deep Scav system allows players to construct weapons out of everyday materials
  • Four exclusive original soundtracks created by Les Claypool, from the world famous band Primus, and composer of the South Park theme tune

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy for plataformer fans, 18 Aug 2009

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Well I just bought this because it was very cheap and seemed good by the videos of gameplay that I saw.

Here's my impressions:

-It's a pure plataformer with some action
-We have various powers, lots of enemies, the traditional bosses, a big and diverse kind of weapons that we can build with objects collected in the levels, it have a lot of exploration and a lot of interaction with the environment.
-The graphics are very nice (seems we are in mushroom kingdom), the frame rates are stable except in some occasions like moving the camera manually. There are big levels and complex without a single loading.
-The controls are very simple and intuitive, very addictive.
-Sound is fantastic, probably one of best points of the game.

Overall its a wonderful game for plataformers lovers.

P.S. I haven't tested cooperative mode.

This was given 86% by ONM, which I must say is a bit high. I'd settle for 75%. Probably best for kids 9-14 years of age.

1.0 out of 5 stars very disapointed, 31 July 2009
By Barnsey (Reading, UK) - See all my reviews
Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game because it said it had a 2 player co-op mode but actually all the second player can do is watch and very occasionally help out.
If they were honest about this I would have never bought the game.

The game itself is quite poor and I cannot think of anything good to say about it at all. Steer clear.
