Got one of these to help tidy up the mass of wires behind the telly. Its a good sturdy unit, i've got a couple of large plugs towards the top sockets and there's no danger of it toppling over like a cheaper tower i had did.
Price is good too, PC World want near fifty of your hard earned pounds for one of these.
This, alongside some velcro cable tidies, has done the job niceley, would reccomend, but have a look at the belkin eight socket floor adapter with swivel sockets if you're not after as many sockets, its a good alternative.

I bought one of these items from another retailer a few years ago and was quite glad to see that they were still available from Amazon. Most surge protectors are rather bulky and being white tend to stick out like a sore thumb. The fact that this is free standing (in my opinion) makes it easier to access in if you wanted to plug anything in for occasional use such as a phone charger, laptop charger etc. I've currently got the RJ11 telephone line that goes from my Sky+ HD box running through this surge protector. It's simple to do and works really well.
The original one of these I use for running my router RJ11 cable through and to the phone line and found there to be no loss of download/upload speed like I have experienced with previous surge protectors.
12 sockets does actually sound a lot, but, as with most things there is a downside. Even with some of the sockets being at an angle, you'll not be able to get 2 large sized bulky plugs plugged in next to each other. Another down side is having to put it together. Sounds easy enough but it's a bit fiddly. The large section of it has to sit in a plastic piece. Once you've lined up the cable, you then have to insert both pieces (whilst still attached) into the base part. To do this successfully, you have to try and align the 4 holes with the 4 clips. Once alligned just trying to push it in won't work. You have to give it quite a good smack. Once it clicks its in. Once its in your never going to be able to take it apart again so it's essential you get it right as there's no going back. Damage either one of the 2 base sections and you'll have no way of standing it up. The box it comes in is a decent size so I can't see why the manufacturer didn't just have the base already moulded on as part of the design.
