A Diet that actually works and the weight falls off without slogging in the gym or starving yourself. It's easy to keep to as long as you don't have a major hang-up about excluding pasta, rice, bread & bagels from your diet. I've lived on these products for years, all low-fat, but I never lost any weight. I was desparate to lose some weight, exclusion of these seemed a small price to pay. The Zone basically works with a ratio of 40-30-30 ie. 40% of your foods come from Carbs (fruit, veg), 30% from Protein (Chicken, Tofu, Fish, Cheese), 30% from Fats (Olive Oil, Almonds, Avodcado (Good Fats)). Each person has a unique programme to stick to - in accordance with your current weight and fitness level. You eat, in my case, 5 times a day - 3 meals and 2 snacks. That's it. I don't exercise, I merely walk about 1/2hour a day, nothing strenuous. I've lost 15lbs in 2 months. I've excess energy and am not tired as soon as I come home from work. I wake up not feeling like I need 10 more hours sleep! It's a great way to lose weight, improve your health, feel good about yourself. Thoroughly recommend it, and the books that follow it: Zone Meals in Minutes and Mastering The Zone. There is also a book for vegetarians: The Soy Zone.

A friend recommended this book to me because of the great results he'd had following it. I bicycle quite a bit, and had been on a very high complex carb, very low fat, protein--what's that? diet for several years. My "healthy" diet gave me low cholesterol (154), but I had extremely high triglycerides (382), low HDL (30), low LDL (48). In short, this shows impending heart disease. Doctor's advice? Exercise. Well, I was already doing that. I cut out even more fat. I was constantly hungry, had headaches, and rarely felt terribly well.

After following the Zone diet for just two days, I felt great and was never hungry, in fact had trouble eating all the food sometimes. I've never felt better in my life. I've been on it almost two weeks now, and have lost over 3 pounds, all from my waist, that I'd never been able to lose before no matter how much I biked. I have far more energy for bicycling than I previously had, and my physical condition has greatly improved. I require less sleep and am less tired than I was before. I know my next blood test will be next to perfect. I'm on the Zone for life. It's simple, the basic principles to follow are summarized in five sentences. I've never really "dieted" before, just modified my food choices and behavior. Unfortunately, I'd been doing it all wrong. Now I know what's right, thankfully not too late.

Learning how to balance my hormonal carburator make me feel alive again,after having my baby I'd never came back to have the fully well being that I always used to enjoy before,most the time I felt tired,so something was missing, something was wrong, but I never found the answer to what was happening to me, I tried many diets, I read many books, I went to the doctor,but not answer to help my exhausted body, some day I found in a web site which was in a e-mail for me, the book so it was the miracle for me I read the the review of publisher,and I thought, it sounds well, I have to find it as soon as possible, because I don't live in U.S.A. , the same day my sister Elizabeth invited me to take lunch,she as me ,likes to diet and to feel healthy, for my surprise the book was in the bookshelf of her kitchen so I began to read it, and I discovered that people with blood "O" have different resistance to glycemic foods, I began to eat according to Zone's diets and my energy and attitude changed, know I enjoy reading and writing again, exercising,going out,calling my friends,because before this I have no energy,I am not totally recovery yet,but while I'm eating the Zone recipes I may say that I've come back to life. For me and my work it is important to keep a powerful mental performance, I am a translator and for me being alert and sharp minded is basic.If some day you need to translate something from your book from english to spanish, please let me know, I'm sure it'd help many people who do not know how to eat and to enjoy a plentyfull life.I hope to impove my health, I will write again to know more about the Zone to achieve a gold level. Readers please beware of fad diets!!!
