5.0 out of 5 stars Best guide to pick up the main features of Maya 19 Nov. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Best guide to pick up the main features of Maya. I have used max and needed something to transition to maya as well to broaden my skill base. All exercises are available electronically. Excellent book. The e-book does have the advantage of full colour verses the book which is black and white.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is amazing.. I have read about 450pgs now 18 Mar. 2015
By steven - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is my first book I have bought from Todd Palamar and my first book I have bought about Maya. After 8 years of using 3D software I am finally transitioning to Maya. This book is amazing.. I have read about 450pgs now. Each page is full of mini tutorials that get you moving all across the program. Each tutorial has a scene file that is associated with it via a download. This book will not teach you what every single button does.. but it will teach you how to use the editors and get going. Maya is a huge program. Its like going to walmart and finding something new.. you have been there a million times and still find something new.. well this book is like a guide through all the isles and what they sell.. If you are looking for a good book this is it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dismal. 19 Jan. 2015
By Neil van Vuuren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Poor examples, lacklustre explanation of the tools. In many instances even less helpful than the help file for maya.

At best this is a paint by the numbers to make simple maya contraptions. Might be sufficient for a beginner but will by no means make anyone a master.
