I bought this book as I was interested in the recipes Larken Cen made on the programme and these are included in this book. However, when looking through it I have found many other recipes by Natalie Coleman and Dale Williams that are also nice. The book is split into three sections - one for each chef. The instructions are straight forward and the food is great. A book worth getting if you like to experiment with food, but want fairly easy recipes to cook at home.

Normally when I buy or get bought a cook book I normal find only 2 or 3 dishes that I would like to cook however in Masterchef the finalists I want to cook everything !! The dishes are mouth-wateringly tempting and anyone with a reasonless skill

I'm a big fan of MasterChef and have one of the other books (Masterchef Everyday, which I also reviewed). This book, The Finalists, is very repetitive. There are three recipes for celeriac puree, three for fondant potatoes, two very siilar chocolate puddings, two rice puddings, two tarte tatin . . .etc. etc. There is also some sloppy editing - meat 'cut into four' and then 'cut to fit pan' and 'duck' removed when there is no 'duck' - only duck fat. Annoying. Not worth the list price of £20 but an impressive gift for a medium-experienced cook or yourself (although it's chunky, all those repeats take up valuable bookshelf space!)
