A TRIUMPH. 27 July 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is a superb soundtrack that vividly captures the unique delights of the Aubrey saga.
We have the incredibly atmospheric pieces that were used in the film in times of tension and they are followed by the joyous violin and cello favourites of Aubrey/Maturin which in turn are followed by the moving score that was set to the scenes of lamentation and so on.
This C.D is a must whether you are wanting to be reminded of the incredible film, are a fan of the books and want a background to your reading(highly reccomended), are a fan of inspirational sountracks, or just enjoy good music.
A sheer delight.

As a huge fan of the film I rushed to buy the soundtrack soon after and I must say I was not disappointed! The music is beautifully composed, complementing the film perfectly. Even though my main preference is not classical music I frequently listen to this soundtrack as I find it highly relaxing; perfect for unwinding after a busy day.

Certainly recommended!

Beautiful 10 Aug 2005
By Fiona
Format:Audio CD
There is something beautiful and enthrawling about the violin and the cello and since watching this movie and especially since listening to the soundtrack I will always hear the violins in the waves of the sea.

The last track - one by Bocherini, a composer whom I think should be as popular as Mozart or Beethoven I think really makes this sountrack what it is. Changeable and full of hidden energy.

Even without seeing the movie this soundtrack can be enjoyed, but of course it does help to visualise what you hear.

A good movie sountrack is one where you can feel and see the movie within it, it reflects the character and the memory of the movie on its own and not just thre to accompany dull scenese. (All depends on the movies of course - but this type of movie warrented an extra good soundtrack)

Definately worth the buy to relive the dramatic scenes and then bath in the beauty and thoughtful sounds of the string instruments.

Wonderful music
The music was great when we watched the film. So I ordered the sound track. What a surprise.
Without the background noises of the film the music was wonderful to listen to.

Master and Commander: Val Gaize's review
This is an excellent CD. I really bought it for the beautiful piece by Boccherini, because much film music is mood music, fitting the action but relatively unmemorable in its own... Read more

Seen the film at the cinema, on satellite and on DVD and really loved it, so we decided we needed our own copy of the music, which we play on our boat as we ply the seas!!

Excellent CD , and has definitely made me a fan of Yo Yo Ma's cello pieces. Listening to the CD brings back very vivid images of the movie.

Great sound track. One for the headphones on your back with your eyes shut. Makes good background music too, although the battle scene tracks do cut through and demand attention. Read more
