Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Play god once more with Master of Atlantis--Poseidon the official expansion pack to Master of Olympus. As before you play God in every sense of the word, and this time the gameplay takes you to the fabled city of Atlantis.

The original Master of Olympus was a cross between serious city building à la SimCity with the tactical strategy elements of Age of Empires and this expansion follows in the same vein offering 45 new episodes across six new epic campaigns.

The game has also introduced new civilisations to trade with such as Mayans, Egyptians and Assyrians as well as new buildings to fit in with the Atlantis landscape and introduces the added benefit of now being able to raise cattle and cultivate your orange trees to feed your population.

Whilst the chance to summon Bellerophon to battle the Chimera may appeal to a limited few, it shouldn't stop you playing what is basically a SimCity set in ancient times. This is a well-balanced add-on that introduces new elements to what is already a great game, and with the addition of a mission and campaign editor, this is surely going to offer you endless levels at your request. --Jason Denwood

5.0 out of 5 stars Sierra Yahhooooo!!!!!, 19 Sep 2001
This game by sierra is absolutley lush ~ !!!! adding a touch more to zeus to make a whole new adventure I have played many of sierras games including pharaoh, cleopatra, zeus, swat 3 etc etc... posideon offers more of almost the same as zeus. Zeus being an excellent city building game, with the added excitement of the gods within greek mythology. Not quite as intellecutal as pharaoh maybe, i think pharaoh and cleo are more difficult to meet goals etc. but after being an avid pharaoh player, i have to say that posiedon and zeus are fun enjoyable and not too easy games offering the upmost fun and enjoyment, i recommend it thoroughly along with zeus, pharaoh and cleo. Get it get it ~ !!!! my husband is getting annoyed cause i can't leave it alone !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done Sierra!, 19 Sep 2004
Poseidon is a brilliant expansion.
It has new gods like: Atlas, Hera, a new temple to Poseidon.
New monsters and Heroes like Atalanta and The Harpy(s)
New resources: Orichalc, Black Marble, Oranges, Meat from Cattle and Deer.
The new adventure editor is a bit hard to do because of resources which are rather confusing but you can create the maps and the world map which has 3 or 4 new parts of the world to put cities in. You can choose the name of the city, the name of the leader, whether they are rivals, vassals, colonies, distant cities, or cities which have 'withered away' as it says in the game.
In stead of Philosophers, Gymnasts, and Actors, in Poseidon, you can have scientists and inventors.
In stead of Triremes, there are Frigates.
You can now build little pyramids and shrines to the gods.

The game is ideal for those who like to do city building so I highly recommend this game. Enjoy it! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sierra does it again, 9 Sep 2001
Zeus was the third of the Sierra citybuilders and definitely the least serious. Its tounge in cheeck humour enlivened the game and its streamlined engine helped beginners to enjoy it while retaining a challenge for the more experienced player. Poseidon is a fitting expansion. The Atlantean city buildings are only slightly different (science instead of culture and a different colour scheme) but the loss of the Panhellenic games makes diplomacy more of a challenge. The game engines main weakness, combat, plays only a minor role in Atalntean adventures, which is an improvement. More monsters, gods and heroes are included - mostly more of the same, but the blessing of Atlas is so useful! - and best of all it comes with a complete adventure editor. While an editor was previously available online, the new version has been given the same polishing as the game, and many minor but helpful improvements have been made.

Overall, it's a great way to extend the replayabilty of a great citybuilder. While they may not have made any major changes, I feel that there were few improvements that could be made to Zeus in the first place. Now if I could only drag myself away from the game enough to get on with my work, I would be over the moon!
