As a long time fan of Leviathan (Twilight & Lurker Of Chalice) I embrace any new Wrest material with open arms. From the (many) split CD's, demo compilations and the handful of full length albums, there is rarely a weak song and never a weak release.

This long awaited CD is utterly stunning.

Wrest's compositional skills have been honed over many years and the end result is an almost seamless hour of raging guitars, pummeling drums and creepy, unsettling quiet moments. The productions is wonderful; varied, rich and totally engrossing.

There aren't many artists I buy without listening to at least a bit of the release first, but Wrest's output (like DsO and Ween) always go in my shopping basket the second they're out.

It's been over a year since this was released but it's a CD I keep coming back to.

Massive Conspiracy Against All Life is essential listening for fans of modern black metal.

A fitting farewell 8 April 2008
By Mr. Mask - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is supposedly Wrest's final release as Leviathan, and his best. Ultimately, if you liked Tentacles of Whorror, then you will probably like this one, as they each take the same avantgarde black metal approach (does not sound as much like his releases prior to Tentacles). After 3-5 listens, I can say I prefer this release to "Tentacles" due, in large part to the production. This album has those great atmospheric parts; those black 'n thrashy parts; those creepy croaks, moans and screams. But what makes this one sound so great is the fact that it is not as... high on the treble side of things. As much as I love Tentacles, it was too piercing and "tinny" at times, which kept me from listening to it as much as I probably would have had it sounded a bit warmer. Granted, as a black metal fan, I am used to the lo-fi black metal production, and in many cases will acknowledge that the lo-fi-ness of many releases is beneficial when it comes to creating the oveall atmosphere. But on Tentacles I felt that Wrest had done such a great job in creating that atmosphere musically, and with the other elements, that he didn't need to rely on the high-pitch, standby black metal guitars. On Massive Conspiracy Against All Life, Wrest creates an overall work that is similar in scope and structure to Tentacles, but eases back on the high-pitched shrieking guitars, in favor of a warmer, fuzzier sound. The effect is no less scary, no less black metal. On the contrary, the resulting overall package benefits from this change. This album is, in my opinion, among the best of it's kind.

This is where All Life ends and the future of Black Metal begins 18 Aug. 2008
By Juanito el del demo - Published on Amazon.com

The first time I heard this album I was shocked. I didn't knew for sure what it was about. But don't misunderstand me, it's not an album that you have to listen several times to begin to appreciate: as soon as it ended, I was anxious to listen to it again - it's kinda the same sensation as when I first heard Radiohead's Kid A - . So, the second time I thought it was horrible and scary... but I was hooked. Actually, it's an album that exalts your emotions, depending on how you feel at that moment. We know black metal can be a very complex, sophisticated and noisy style, but this album goes much further and elevates the style several levels above your average music. It's a breakthrough between "what was" and "what will be", not only in Wrest's career, but in the black metal style, and, luckily, in the future of music itself. No need to say: you need to listen to it lonesome at your house, loud.

Massive Album Against All Mediocrity 19 May 2008
By Matt A. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
With the recent insurgence of brilliant French Black Metal via Deathspell Omega and Glorior Belli, it's amazing that an album like Massive Conspiracy Against All Life has come out from the US...by one man no less!!! This album will appeal not only to fans of the aforementioned bands, it will garner interest by nearly anyone into intense, driving, non-conformist metal. This album will make a HUGE impact on the future of USBM and I can guarantee the clones are already in their basements gearing up for their own Massive Conspiracy re-make. BUY THIS ALBUM!!!
