Every now and then you run across something off the beaten path that is genuinely good, and Mass/Mass is one of these. Unfortunately out of print now with the demise of Man's Ruin, this album is an excellent Doom/Stoner metal treat. The music is low and slow, slightly hypnotic with the occaisional "spacey" background notes. It's good, moderately paced, strong music with a full, fuzzed-out sound. The singer is generally monotonic and slides right into the music, sometimes contributing to a psychadelic feel. "The Life Song" stood out as an exception to this, but otherwise a consistant, solid album.
I'd recommend this to fans of Kyuss, Sleep and Black Sabbath.
