Product Description

Mass Effect 3 Lead Writer Mac Walters returns to comics for the most revealing journey to date into the Mass Effect universe! The Illusive Man sits at the center of many of the galaxy's greatest mysteries and is a key figure of Mass Effect 2 and beyond. Now, for the first time anywhere, the origin of the Illusive Man is revealed, in a story exclusive to this graphic novel! Created by the Mass Effect: Redemption team of Walters, John Jackson Miller (Star Wars: Knight Errant; The Invincible Iron Man), and Omar Francia (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2), this is comics' sci-fi story of the year!

I'm not a huge fan of graphic novels. For me, they seem to take the imagination out of reading. However, I am a huge fan of Mass Effect so felt I had to buy this to keep up-to-date with the story.

The story itself fleshes out a lot of the back story of both the Illusive Man and Saren, explaining how their personalities and philosophies were shaped during the events of the First Contact War. You also get your first views of Arcturus Station and Palaven (the Turian homeworld).

I'm not even going to try and review the art because, as I said, I'm no expert. All I will say is the drawings are clear enough to figure out what's going on.

In summary, I'd recommend buying this if, like me, you want to be aware of all aspects of the Mass Effect back story. It will help explain the motivations of 2 of the key characters throughout the game.

You are on to the Mass Effect videogame series? Did you enjoyed the books and comics? Are you intrigued of who this Illusive Man guy is? Then you will undoubtly enjoy this comic at its best! This well worth the prize comic book is well worth what it costs! Not just for its drawings quality, but for the story it tells. You will learn about the Illusive Man, the first time man traveled through the Mass Relays, and lot of other things including Turians, Saren and some technology that will be important in ME1, ME2 and ME3.
Very good precuel, and a great piece of the Mass Effect universe.

Great backstory on the Illusive Man! 27 Sep 2011
By Chris Wice - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This Evolution series is a great addition to the Mass Effect Universe. It gives a much needed backstory on Jack Harper, who eventually becomes the Illusive Man, leader of the human organization, Cerberus. I enjoyed this series and recommend it to any Mass Effect fan that wants to delve a little deeper into the Illusive Man's past.
The First Contact War 1 April 2012

I've never been the biggest fan of the Illusive Man, so this didn't have the same impact to me as Redemption and Invasion did. (Love Liara and Aria) But it was great to get some insight into the First Contact War, meeting General Williams (Ashley William's grandfather) oh and finally female Turians! The backstory on Saren was nice as well. He was a much better antagonist than the Illusive Man, in my opinion. Still a good story with some good art, at a very cheap price.

The two mini comics Incursion and Inquisition were a nice added bonus.
Good background on an important character but... 13 Mar 2012

It really feels like there should have been more meat to the story. The art is great. I heart Mass Effect.
