A game the size of ME2 deserves a good guide, some may see it as cheating (sometimes it is), but it helps to get the most from the game - they wrote all the code to get it in there, why not go find it!!??? This guide has nice maps and walk-throughs for the major story line sections, the description of the planets are good and all other sections seem to be nicely arranged - until you have to flick through it. If you're mining a system and see that one of the planets has an "N7" mission in place, you then have to find the index for the N7 missions, then find the mission in question for the information. An additional layer of cross-references would have been helpful.
Also for the lesser missions there are a lack of maps (some do, some don't) - maps are good, a note in a walkthrough "don't forget to find the 1000 units of Iridium" is not very helpful without some idea where those units are. The ME1 guide had maps aplenty (ok sometimes not totally accurate) but was much better for it.

As game guides go, this is OK. It's just about worth the price for the maps and planet descriptions, which come in handy for mining resources in the game.

But as ME2 is a bit more linear level-wise than the first game, the maps are not as essential as in the first Mass Effect guide. The level walkthroughs are occasionally lacking in detail so aren't always very helpful for harder sections on higher difficulty. The section on classes, skills, biotics, ammo and so on is good for setting up your character and party as a whole.

If you must have a book sat beside you to help through the game, then this is probably worth a purchase, and it is more convenient than an internet search. The info veers from lacking to useful so it's a mixed bag. Just about worth it, I think.

I haven't actually got round to using this guide yet as I'm going currently completing the first Mass Effect with every possible options. However, I have read it and it appears to be brilliant. I was previously struggling with Mass Effect 2, but it looks like this guide would help me big time.

Gives you everything from maps and what planets to mine, to walkthroughs, to locations of side missions. However no maps for side missions only walkthrough, and neither for Cerberus DLC.
